Arkansas Kayak/Rafting

I have finally come to the conclusion that my soul seeks travel.
For years, I have always been traveling to random places in my dreams when I sleep. Never really put much into it when I awoke due to being on a tight budget with a young family.
I want to change that.
I read quote recently that has kinda of stuck with me: A man has two lives. The second one begins when he realizes he only has one.
With all that said, I am looking to start taking a lot of small weekend trips out of Baton Rouge. Drive 6-7 hours Friday, explore any area for two nights, and return on Monday.
Arkansas kayak and rafting is first on my list.
Any recommendations within the 6-7hour window of Baton Rouge is appreciated.

You are starting your travel journey in Arkansas? Fly to Seattle.

12 and 6.
There are good options all over the state for that age group then. We took the kids (7 & 4) to Hot Springs and canoed the Caddo River through Lucky's Caddo River Canoe. They also have kayaks but you need to call and make reservations for those. Not so great on the scenery like you would find on Ouachita River around Oden, but that was closed due to river levels when we went.
We also took the kids hiking through the National Park and Lake Catherine State Park. They really enjoyed all of it, plus the weather was great when we went.

Arkansas is a disappointment. East Tennessee/WNC is more budget friendly, and they have actual mountains.

Yep. During this Covid BS I'm come to realize I need to get out a lot more. I've ordered a tree hammock and a few other things and probably will load up on a bunch of new camping gear when it cools down.
I've followed a lot of the threads on here and have been making mental notes of the 3 to 4 day trips that people mention on here that can be done cheaply.
I really hate driving more than 5 hours, but screw it. I'm ready to get to the smokies, North Alabama, Arkansas, and and even camping in this state.

Seattle? Of all places... that’s the best you can suggest. What kind of liberal nightmare are you trying to send the OP?

Western Washington has some really cool sites to experience.
Would highly recommend.
Probably as does Central & Eastern Washington, unfortunately I do not know first-hand.
