I did mine a few months ago and it was really quick. Less than 2 weeks. I was shocked.

I would be shocked also, the lady at the desk was mean as hell. She told me good morning and got mad when I didnt tell her good morning back. I didnt say anything because she had large headphones on. She wouldnt let me say anything else until I told her good morning.

Submitted mine online on a Monday. Prints Tuesday. Was in my mailbox the following Tuesday. That was in December.

You’re shitting me? Wtf if it’s not a good morning and you didn’t want to say that?! How about take the girnormous headphones off so I know you’re speaking to me and then we can talk? How about do your job that I help pay for, so I can be on my way? People are unreal.

Like I said. I didn't say it because she had to huge headphones on. She didn't even look up at me. It was those huge ones that cover the whole ears. If you read the Google reviews it's pretty much the same sort of complaints. Typical government worker. If these people were in private business acting like they do they wouldn't last a day.

to further contribute to thread,
i did mine by mail.

I mailed off everything on 11/24.
They issued my permit on 1/4.

So that's with thanksgiving, christmas and new years all inbetween.

How about if it’s not a good morning? How about me not be required to render to the appropriate greeting of the day to a freaking government employee before they do their job? How about said government employee take off the headphones while she’s dealing with a customer? Lots of how abouts we can throw out there.

Most of my students report getting their permits within 7-10 business days.

P.S. Good Morning

P.P.S. Most of the staff at the CHP unit are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The woman you encountered is likely a clerk who was assigned to man the counter. The people who actually process CHP's cut from different cloth.

I won't post any particulars, but this week (two days ago) the CHP unit reached out to help one of my students who is due to renew her permit. This lady is pregnant (and thus can't shoot firearms), and has a job that really necessitates going in to "higher crime" areas (and thus necessitates CCW). I was truly impressed with the professionalism of the Trooper who assisted.

Right, the whole thing is obviously run pretty well. There seems to be more resources devoted to processing it.
