I'm reading this thread just dumbfounded how virtually every poster's takeaway from this article is how screwed up Miami is, and basically NOTHING on what the NCAA is pulling here.

WTF is going on with the MSB?

USC fans should be loving what's about to happen to Miami.

The NCAA is coming down hard regardless. And they aren't ever doing the death penalty again.

They have no subpoena power and no bearing on their life.

frick the NCAA.

The frick? At least half of us have expressed severe disdain toward the NCAA. I even cussed at them.

I absolutely despise the NCAA as an inept, corrupt and inherently biased organization.

I wish Paul Dee were alive to see the U get hosed though. I do hate it for the current U fans and U players. Had nothing to do with it. Always the innocent that get phucked oer.

Except the program there doesn't exactly have a history of being "innocent."

The NCAA sucks and I generally root for any program over them.

But Paul Dee made himself part of their compliance - as the head against USC - and that ridiculously-worded ruling.

If he were alive, I'd cheer for Miami to get severe sanctions only to hear his comments and see him squirm and hopefully prompt changes to NCAA oversight from being ad hoc, subjective and often arbitrary.

Still get a feeling the stooges will protect his memory and this won't change anything.

Although they said Alabama was "staring down the barrel of a gun," it later came out the death penalty was never even discussed, IIRC.

that's because the DP is overkill. Too many innocent people, including opponents are damaged by it. It should never be considered.

Sadly people like to root for "the man" and or let personal bias cloud their judgment. They never think giving one group too much power will ever hurt them, and that only the guilty will get punished, its very short sighted.

well, to be fair, this is a great example of how the NCAA really lacks a lot of power. it's showing its arse on this one

i think people would be more harsh towards teh NCAA if this stunt wasn't so ridiculous and pathetic in the first place

Dirtiest program we have seen in a long time. Should have gotten the death penalty a long time ago imo.

this confirms for the most part there is no slap on the rist here.

either they and the shite is not as bad as NS says it is, but it's still bad enough to get scholly reductions, to allow everyone on the team to transfer wtih no penalty instantly as well as a 3 year bowl ban on top of what htey have done so far (penn state got 5 years I think total)

or they dont' talk, they take NS's word and it's lights out.

there is no scenario where they get off with a slap on the rist.

Do you really think that things like this aren't going on at Ohio State, USC, Auburn, Etc.?

I mean we had a dirty program, but i doubt this kind of stuff isn't going on every where considering it always has and has continued to surface at different universities
