I see the Howard Dobson offense is in full swing in Tokyo. This team is not going to beat up everyone like in '04 but it's going to be tough getting past Japan only scoring 1 or 2 runs a game.

Shippman is not even close to the quality of a player that Hemphill was. While Shippman might have been a slight improvement for LSU, I think LSU not getting her isn’t that big of a loss. This year ended up Not having many high quality players in the portal as I was expecting. I am pretty worried that next year is going to be even uglier defensively especially and as ugly with the bats.

I don't understand how as a Tennessee legacy and Tennessee player you can transfer to Alabama. It's unconscionable to me.

I don't understand it either and thought the same thing. You would think if you are playing for Tennessee that you would hate that school in Tuscaloosa. It just shows you where we are in 2021. It's not like it was years ago and kids don't have the same loyalty. It's all about me, me, me.

I just want my catcher to catch the ball. Cummins lead the SEC in passed balls while hitting sub .200. Either improve significantly or throw in someone who can hit better. You just cannot have that type of production on both ends. Got to at least contribute something.

While Shipman is no Jaquish or Hemphill. Someone who hits above .250 and catches the ball most the time Would be a dramatic improvement. I honestly wanted the UT grad transfer which could have filled a one year void. Bergeron will help but we still have to wait another year till she gets to campus. Hopefully someone steps up this off-season. Considering the depth in the OF, I wonder if they push Newland to step up at catcher

Speaking of Dobson, I know he has stayed loyal to Beth all these years, but questions remain if we can obtain a better hitting coach. If batting averages are not improving, it's either coaching or recruits being overrated in their evaluations. We can't afford to be complacent! Don't want our softball team to mirror the last few years of baseball under PM!

Just curious, are there any women on the USA Olympic roster with ncaa eligibility remaining?

Never mind. I looked up the roster. The answer I am fairly certain is NONE.

Did anyone catch the Alliance all star game last night? There were 3 future Tigers in the game.

I was about to post about this

Brandon hit a home run, Giglio got some hits and was on base and Chaffin pitched. She has some good movement on her pitches. Think she could contribute early. I think her transition will be smoother than others since Chaffin has worked with Beth pitching for years

2023 recruiting won't get heated up until September 1st. Transfer season is essentially come to a close with classes coming around.

Maia Townsend moved over to the bombers. I am hoping LSU can land Henry, she is one of the best players of the entire 2023 class. LSU is in her top group right now and will be getting a visit at some point.

Another thing of note, Kirsten Fleet, one of the top 2023 pitchers reopened her recruitment following the Georgia coaching changes. She visited LSU and was among her top group prior to the recruiting rule changes.

September 1st is when they can start extending offers and committing for 2023 class.

Looks like Taylor Tidwell had some type of procedure done on her shoulder. Hope it isn't anything too serious!

I hope so too

In recruiting related news,

LSU may be leading for the #1 overall prospect/pitcher for 2024 class with Jayden Heavener out of Florida. Been to LSU multiple times this summer and is all over the programs social media. Has a really good relationship with Beth and many of the players (especially Pleasants). I know its early still but it looks very promising right now. Something to watch.

Bonus, she is a lefty pitcher
