From what I gather listening to the interview they have him playing both ways in camp settings.

Hunter is a 5* on rivals as an athlete as well.
So Welch is doing favorably well against a consensus 5* player that has not been solely categorized as a db meaning he’s got skills as a wr.

Welch and Anderson are my 2 favorite recruits in this class so far.
Welch will be the next 1st rounder at cb. It corey raymond could build a corner, he9 would build welch.

Great presence in the interview. Fun kid. If he handled Brian Thomas and Chris Hilton he gon be gooood. Luv that we have this kid.

Love these guys, love them. But nothing beats a top notch qb and top notch left tackle, and we have that. But I like that we have dominant players in plenty of positions on offense and defense. Hell, Jake Johnson at TE and Mathews at Safety are up there as well. I’m loving this whole class.

The kid has mad confidence in himself. I seen Shelton Sampson Jr get the best of him on the 7 on 7 circuit, I know he has that game against catholic high circled on that schedule. Hes a dog tho. Plus Shelton Sampson Jr is the next randy moss imo.

He’s not just a WR, he’s a really goddamn good WR. I’ve heard Bud Elliot say that he (hunter) is the first guy in quite a while who would be both the WR1 and the CB1 for his cycle, depending on which he wants to play. So suffice to say that this is more than just a 5* DB who happens to play WR in HS—this is a tip top end WR.
Btw, Hunter is an absolute fricking FREAK—in the clips that I’ve seen of him, his athleticism is absolutely jaw-dropping (and, FWIW, he was playing WR in those clips)—so if Welch really did lock him up then he is the real deal. I agree with the guy in this thread who said you could make a case for hunter as the best player in the class. Gotta love what that says about Welch.
