muni's

Pretty interesting list, which includes rates. Very fortunate to 2 on the list within 30 minutes of me. Both are very accessible if you plan a week in advance for weekends and day before on weekdays.

Interesting list. I've played #2, #11, #15, #28, and #30.

Wondering why they listed Port for Harborside. I am a much bigger fan of Starboard.

I've played #3 George Wright, a fantastic course.

Manakiki and Sleepy Hollow from the Cleveland area are two great courses mentioned. Known for 5+ hour rounds on weekends because of the popularity though.

Fortune to have played 1, 3 & 5. So only 10%, but 60% of Top 5.

It’s a good running joke on Webb, but the fact that we continue to bring Webb into these conversations should be a testament to its goodness. Webb memorial owes you nothing yet we all come back. I hope it never changes

I was shocked to see it as well. The most overpriced golf in America.

Highland Park

As a kid, I played there most of my summers.

Charlie Boswell was a blind golfer who was scratch. I think at times we called it “Boswell.”

I went back and played after the redesign. Many holes were changed. It’s a landlocked park so acreage is limited.

Back in the day, 17 was a par 3 where you teed off a cliff to the green below. Must have been 80-90 feet down.

The old design had multiple driveable par 4s with OB close by. It was fun.

What are green fees there these days? I haven't played out there in at least 10 years, but always thought they had some of the best greens in Birmingham, at least for a public course. Course was usually in really good shape when I played it, but I haven't played any other courses on that list to compare it to.
