Printers make me feel like a 70 year old. I have the worst luck with them. I just need a pretty basic wireless printer for my house. Something that will be reliable but not cost me a ton of money.

Any recs?

I really like the Canon series I have a TR4520 at the office and a TR8500 at home.

They both allow me to print straight from my phone or laptops. 8500 has great picture quality if I want to print out some photos for the grandparents; often printing 4*6 and 5*7 for them. No idea about the 4520 as I've never tried to print photos

Brother HL-L2350DW

It's crazy that this printer was $80 cheaper 4 months ago.

Realistically, I know I probably don't need to print color, but it still scares me to buy a printer that cannot print in color.

Yes, called it the 8500 because I looked at the app to see what it was and forgot the setups are based off of the series (8520 is under the 8500 setup; 4520 is under the 4500 series...)

Cheap color printing is the siren song of ink jets. I never recommend ink jets for infrequent use. The ink dries in the jets and it requires an ink intensive cleaning cycle to clear them. It's incredibly wasteful and those ink cartridges are expensive.

Screw Printers

I am tech savvy in a lot of things, but printers make me want to punch a hole in the wall

I'd get a B&W Brother laser printer. If I print something in color, it's usually gonna be a picture that I print at Walgreen's on photo paper.

I also recommend Brother B&W Laser Printers. I have an older model Multi-Function one (model DCPL2550DW) and still like it. Its fast, the toner cartridges last a long time and are cheap to replace. It's probably an outdated model now so I would look for a newer model. I paid $129.99 for mine in March 2020 and now it appears to cost twice that now.

In searching Amazon for "brother multifunction laser printer black and white", they appear to be really proud of them now as they are charging a good bit more than they did 1 year ago.

You don't need color.

I bought a Samsung B&W wireless laser printer about 7 years ago or so. I used to work from home printing a ton of documents and it still took forever to run the ink down.

You may never have to replace the cartridge for residential use.
