Looking for something with Apple Car Play.
Would prefer something that could play CDs but not a gamebreaker.
Also want capability for Sirius XM.
Recommendations please?

i went with the Sony XAV-AX150 in my 2011 4runner. doesn't play CDs but i don't miss them. this one doesn't support sirius but there is a more expensive model that does. very happy with mine.

Good luck finding any name brand models less than $500. I'm looking for one for my sons 2010 F150 and I don't want a Jensen or Boss so everything else is out of stock.

I have been waiting a month+ on an Alpine unit to be back in stock

I replaced a 2018 4Runner OEM radio with a Kenwood Excelon DMX706S (has Apple Car Play when plugged in via USB-A to lightning cable).
I also ordered the following from Crutchfield:
Metra 99-8227CHG Dash Kit (Gloss Black)
iDatalink Maestro RR Interface Module
iDatalink HRN-RR-TO2 Factory Integration Adapter (ADS-MRR module also required)
Metra 40-LX11 Antenna Adapter
Metra AX-TOYUSB USB Port Cable
Crutchfield RCA Adapter
This configuration allowed us to retain the backup camera and steering wheel controls.
I paid $669. The replacement radio from Toyota was $1,000 and is far inferior to what we purchased — and OEM lacked Apple Car Play.

I’m looking at the sister JVC radio. I really wanted pioneer but no shot of getting it.

I bought this one a couple of years ago for my 2013 Tacoma (which probably had the same headunit as yours).

It has been great. I also ordered lots of other parts for the dash surround, iDatalink Maestro, sirius receiver, etc. that Will Cover suggested.
