How does Facebook know when I create a fake account?

Right when I sign up they automatically deactivate it now.

The reason I like having a fake account is because I don’t want a personal account and I hate Facebook, but their marketplace is where I’ve made the most sales.

I used to be able to keep one, but they’ve really cracked down lately and it’s almost impossible to have one now.

I have tried everything....I turned my Surfshark VPN on, downloaded the brave web browser and turned every privacy setting on (except the one for block cookies because Facebook won’t even function if that’s turned on), I make sure I clear my cookies and website data are cleared after every use, but Facebook still somehow knows it’s me. This is not only frustrating, but it’s scary AF.

Any idea as to how they are doing this and with their recent updates, is it possible to still make a fake account that will stay up? I don’t mean as In a fake profie pic, I usually use a sports logo and make up a fake name.

They are probably watching you do it through your webcam and laughing.

They might not know it's you specifically, but they might not allow accounts to be created via your VPN.

Can they access your MAC address? I'm assuming you're using the same computer for both ids.

Did you try it on your phone while using cellular and not your WiFi?

Did you use an obvious fictional name that could easily be cross-referenced...like Cameron Frye?

That's strange. I have two accounts, one is my personal account and the other is so I can actually voice my opinion on news sites. I have a Samsung phone that will create two different icons so I don't have to sign in each time I switch accounts. I don't use VPN, but I did use an anonymous email to create the account at tutanota.com
Facebook doesn't seem to be able to make sense of my fake account. I put no personal details on there and have not friended anyone. FB keeps recommending friends for me and most of them are African or middle eastern

2 different email accounts?
Do not verify phone number.
IP address should not matter as many use same device in household for different accounts.

I play FFXV and to create a new account in a new realm I reset my phone to factory defaults.

A bit of a networking novice but the MAC address is retained in the switch (Layer2) and theoretically should never make it past the switch. Most home modems are switch/routers or Level 3 switches. The switch ties the MAC address to an IP address in the switch, and only sends out the IP address in the packet. Someone more knowledgeable can correct me if wrong.

I'm guessing they don't allow a VPN to be used when creating a new account.

To test the MAC address theory, you could download a virtual machine software like Hyper-V and spin up a new machine to dummy out the MAC address through the switch/router.

I don't have that problem. I've made a couple recently for linking a games. I also create a gmail account as well that I use. Seems to work for me.
