Would be so hype. Easily my favorite in the series. When I hear the PS2 bootup music, this is one of the few games that always comes to mind.

Metal Gear Solid 2 first made its debut back in 2001. With it being the digital age of remasters, dedicated fans have been asking Konami for a remake of key Metal Gear titles, including the second entry. While Konami itself hasn't said anything official at this time, a mysterious new account has been leading the fanbase to believe that a Metal Gear Solid 2 remake (or remaster) could be coming down the pipeline.
The Tom Olsen Twitter account was created just this month and features videos from the hit Metal Gear game. The mysterious series of tweets began on April 21, including the below video that this created character doesn't "remember" filming:
quote:
"Huh, I don’t remember filming this. No idea where it came from.
I did have a pretty crazy dream last night about being on boat going down the West Side. Maybe it’s from the head trauma? Doc did say I had a mild concussion. Pretty weird!"
Video in the link shows 1st person footage of the opening tanker section.
quote:
"Olsen" recently just uploaded a new video, saying, "A follower suggested riding the conveyor belt in Strut E to see where it goes. It's a crazy idea, but it seemed fun...until I ended up stuck in an awkward situation. It sounds like my friend is REALLY tearing into someone. Yikes."
quote:
The account with the game character as its avatar claims to be a maintenance technician at the Big Shell. The account has fans running wild with theories on YouTube and Reddit, all concluding that this must mean a Metal Gear Solid 2 remake is in the works. Konami hasn't done anything with the franchise since Metal Gear Survive, and that game couldn't...well, survive. Many have been left to wonder if there is any future to be had for the beloved franchise, but this new Twitter account does seem to be sparking up that old hope.
This social media spiral also comes on the wheels of Solid Snake actor David Hayter previously stating that he believes that a Metal Gear Solid remake is in the works. When responding to a fan question about all of the rumors about a potential remake, he responded, saying that he received an industry-related text message that seemingly confirmed some kind of remake was happening.
Right now, this account remains a mystery. Could it be a clever Konami marketing campaign? Very likely. Could it also be an elaborate hoax? Absolutely. We don't know, but right now, it's very obvious that this 'Tom Olsen' is building up towards some kind of reveal. What that reveal is remains to be seen, but we're keen to play along for now.

This has a lot of potential for meta jokes considering all the mindfrickery involved with the original game.

I would love a remake. This game basically predicted the world we live in today.

I want a Metal Gear (1998) remake.
But I dont at the same time.

I just want the IP taken away from Konami.

It belongs in Kojima’s hands. Kojima was crafting absolute masterpieces throughout the entire series and we get Metal Gear Survive from Konami they don’t deserve to hold those rights and they’re wasting the shite out of them

This account is amazing. It's been going through the entirity of MGS2 from a 3rd person perspective and I'm all about it. Anyone who loves that game should start on this feed from the beginning.
I really hope this is a remaster teaser, but if not, this twitter account was worth the follow.

They already remade it once for the Gamecube - called Metal Gear: Twin Snakes. They actually did a great job with it.

which one do you play as raiden? i remember/playing one where the game would glitch out and you'd get locked in a tunnel. i think it was towards the end of the game.

That was 2.
Late in the game, Raider gets captured and you end up in a bunch of identical tunnels while your commander keeps sending messages full of gibberish.

was that intentional? i don't recall that it was but i could be wrong.
Posted on 5/3/21 at 9:44 am to finchmeister08
Oh that was very intentional. It gets explained as commander being an AI, rather than a real person, and that it had gotten a virus by that point which compromised it.

Been away mostly as I finished moving to lower Bama...
Covid pushed the timing back, but expect a MGS1-3 remake(s)/reboots w/ some 1:1 graphical/gameplay updates and some adjusted story/play likeFF7. I’m pretty excited for it, but I also want a continuation of the franchise post-MGS4.
As for Kojima, frankly, he hasn’t made a great MGS game since MGS3. 4 was a beautiful mess and V just straight sucked. Peace Walker was an awesome PSP game, but the core of that game was well into development before Kojima jumped in to choreograph the production. I’m fine with a new vision, provided it’s not the vision of a corporate board designing the game from focus group analytics.

Just remake them all. Metal Gear is one of my favorite series. Every game is amazing.
