Busted my arse on the ice last week and hurt my shoulder. No breaks or anything and unlikely a tear because it’s healed somewhat.

Would it be too soon to run or do yoga this week? I haven’t worked out since the Saturday before the bad weather and I’m losing my mind.

I was thinking a bike / spin class wouldn’t be a bad idea. A rower would be perfect.

I miss running and hot yoga

rowing is pretty shoulder intensive

if you can row, I assume you can run, no?

It’s odd - it doesn’t hurt in a rowing motion. Other basic tasks hurt like a motherfricker.

I’m at the point of just saying frick it and running soon but I don’t want to screw anything up hence the thread

I'm also dealing with shoulder pain right now, but it only hurts when I'm in the front rack position

I can do everything else, go over head just fine, but when I try to catch a press, it hurts like hell

weird and frustrating

The doctor’s advice was completely unhelpful

Gave me a 5-14 day range of rest depending on how I felt.

I would just do whatever exercises you can that don't hurt. Hammy curls, leg extensions, lunges, triceps extensions, light bicep curls (if you can), back extensions, leg lifts, biking, walking, etc. until you are healed up.

don't, allow time for the injury to heal. no need to risk further aggravation, even if it feels good it may not be 100%. You don't want to get stuck in that limbo of consistently having irritation there because it can't heal 100%.

If you're inclined to workout you could always do an active recovery week. Or leg intensive week, as previously mentioned in this thread.

You can also do exercises with a small weight. Also bicycling, cardio exercises if your goal is to lose weight. And if you want to gain weight, it's better to consult a trainer.

What you can. Better to get blood to that area. Just don’t push through the pain. Push right to the edge of where you would feel pain, then back off.
