I agree that they could have gone for more chairbacks, but students don't want to just be sitting down the right field line. I have a lot of LSU friends, current and former students, who have expressed that sentiment. As a student, you should have access to your own "thing". Not just another fan in a bleacher in the grandstands.

Ole Miss, State, and Arkansas all have unique student experiences. LSU could have easily done something similar during the new build. I do understand that Baton Rouge is a larger city than the rest so you really have to accomodate the average Joe, but surely they could have done some kind of VIP standing room area/Berm or what not for undergrads.

It shouldn’t take weeks. Softball has already increased capacity and whoever is handling the baseball seating should have a plan in place already. They knew this would come during the season. No reason to not have a plan other than laziness or incompetence.

They’re welcome to pay to sit elsewhere. Look, there’s no “bad” seat in the box and you have 8-9k who are season ticket holders for multiple years. Those people rightfully so have better seats than student spots. There’s almost no turnover on season tickets. Those people have priority. It’s the way it should be. RF is where you want to be to frick with the RF anyway. This is a really odd complaint tbh.

Football yes. Baseball and basketball I have to disagree

Agree with this. I am not a basketball person at all, but if I end up at a game I can easily get into it.

Baseball I can watch anywhere, but I know most people aren't like that

A berm would have been nice, I agree. But it’s not the average joe LSU baseball is accommodating by putting the students in RF. It’s season ticket holders who have had season tickets for 5+ years.

You don't think State, Ole Miss, and Arkansas don't have the same season ticket holders. My point being during the original construction, why not just build something unique.

I agree, they should have had plans for 10%, 25%, 40%, 50%... before the season started. I just have little faith the administration would plan ahead and that they will drag their feet to get it done.

State maybe. But they just built a new park. And State didn’t really have any official control over what was in CF at the old stadium.

I’m not saying LSU didn’t frick up. The batters eye, chair backs, the advertisements, berm... I’m saying RF is where you should be (sans berm) even in a stadium that big due to there being people who deserve priority over you. Most people have had tickets longer than any of the students have been at LSU.

I did not see that, good to hear. Agree it will be difficult to get up to 5k w the 6' rule, but hopefully they can at least open it up a little more; especially before SEC play. I am sure it will take a few weeks for them to figure it out.

I'm guessing they will have increased capacity by next weekend. They'll want a test run before SEC play starts.

That was my guess as well. But I was hoping for more tickets this weekend.

You could have had both. State prioritized students in the construction of the New Dude. For Alex Box, students were an afterthought or simply lumped in with other bleacher fans. They weren't given a seat at the table when it came to new construction. That's all I'm saying here. And State did have control over the old Left Field Lounge. The spots were numbered and you had to pay an annual fee, even a 5 year wait list to get a spot. It was up to you to design your own lounge.

Regardless, this discussion were having is a good problem to have. Shows that the state of the sport is growing when more people would like better amenities.

I mean it’s creation and what it became. State had nothing to do with that.

State did that’s true. But LSUs mistakes weren’t limited to the students. In 2009 when the box was built, they should have done a lot of things differently. I guess even on that list, students aren’t a priority for me. Of the issues with the box, it’s towards the bottom.

State is up there like I said. Not Ole miss or Arkansas though. LSU only has between 1 and 2% non renewals every year.

We can certainly agree to disagree . My opinion on this issue stems from what I hear from LSU students who visit Dudy, Swayze, and the likes and wish they had something similar. In due time, I think it will come. I have a really close friend who is an LSU fan and we talk about LSU replicating State's Lounges, but instead of every rig having a grill, have a boiler and fryers equipped for each lounge

My opinion is based on my experiences there. Even UGA has good looking advertisements.

FWIW I grew up going to LSU baseball games. Been to countless games in the old and new. Sat in just about every section. Hell, even played in a travel tourney there. I just know the students opinions carry a little more weight than mine, but I can definitely affirm those complaints. I understand the ad frustration, it's a very high school look. Much like you would see at the 2A private schools in BR.

Ole Miss had over 6,000 the last 2 games. They've already opened up especially the student section.
