This was the best win that the Pelicans have ever had. They made a great comeback against a Celtics team that was doing some chirping. The calls by the officials were ludicrous. The second technical and resulting ejection of Reddick. The total BS overturn of a correct decision giving the Pelicans the ball. The mauling of Josh Hart during a layup with no foul called. The obvious walk by the Celtics that was not called. I actually really got into this game. The guys played angry during the second half; they need to do this on a nightly basis.

I was one of the few that got mad at Saints' fans for their venom after the Rams playoff game (yeah, bad no call, but you still had a chance to win), but that officiating today was simply inexcusable at any level, much less pro. If they didn't have a bet on the outcome, then its unexplainable.

Zion was clotheslined at one point under the goal.

Also ridiculous was calling a double lane violation at the time it was called. It literally took a Pelicans point off the board and made a jump ball situation, I've never seen that call before and they pulled it in at a critical time.

I thought the block call on Melli in the lane when he flat got ran over was the worst call of the day other than the second JJ tech of course. That ref should be suspended or something for that shite. If it was just the first tech, fine let it go. But, you can't have a ref kicking players out of the game like that.

We seem to be the only team that ever gets called for lane violations in any situation much less crucial ones. When do the NBA players ever respect the lane during free throws? They could call that every time.

I am not sure I completely understand the rule. I will say if you look up the rules on NBA free throw shooting they could call violations every damn play.

quote:

PENALTY:

A. If the free throw attempt is to remain in play and a teammate of the shooter violates, no point can be scored and the opposing team will inbound on either sideline at the free throw line extended. If an opponent violates, the shooter shall receive a substitute free throw if his attempt is unsuccessful but shall be ignored if the attempt is successful. If a teammate and opponent both violate, a jump ball shall be administered at midcourt between any two opponents in the game.

B. If the free throw attempt is not to remain in play, no violation can occur regardless of which player or players violate since no advantage is gained unless there is a disconcertion violation by an opponent to which a substitute free throw will be awarded.

So even if the player makes the free throw a jump ball occurs with a double violation? That seems like a strange rule and I am unsure how it is is considered in that the free throw is in play.

Let's see, Reddick threw with force ( I think he was at least 15 feet away from the referee) and hit the official. The ball hit the referee , because he turned to address the scoring table. That call, like many during the game, was laughable.
