Do you speed up audio books?

Using the hoopla app the 1.25 speed is easier for me to listen to than normal. It’s closer to the speed I read. Only in my second book on the app so it’s maybe dependent on the reader. Some words run together a little but not bad.

Also listening to Ivan Doig books. He’s from Montana close to where I used to live.

almost always, some of those frickers talk sooooooo slow.

I don't really like fiction audiobooks, but speed up my nonfiction as much as possible.

More books listened to in the same time period!

Depends on the voice actor, sometimes they talk so damn slow it isn’t like a normal conversation.

Edit: At most I would bump it to 1.25, good example is the powder mage series. I was listening on 1.25 and it sounds like normal speaking. Can’t imagine playing that in the normal speed setting.

I try to get to 2.0 speed usually on my nonfication if possible, sometimes can get higher and sometimes have to go to 1.75 - 1.5 at the slowest. I am just impatient.

The one I’m listening to now this guy talks slow with pauses. The podcast app I use has a feature where it takes out pauses without speeding up the words. Wish the hoopla app did that.

Thats cool, I wish the Libby app did that as well. That is what slows down the current book I am listening to when working or traveling.

I mean I get a dramatic pause but shite it’s like every second or third line

Yes - working my way through Rick Atkinson's The Day of Battle. Speeding it up just a little to 1.1x. I tried 1.2 and it was a little too fast. I'm sure it depends on the narrator.

I'll speed up non-fiction if the author reads too slow. Never fiction though you lose the inflection/feeling the reader is trying to give the story.

It depends on the narrator, but I usually play at 1.25x speed.

The ASOIAF books I think were closer to 2x, Roy Dotrice talks so damn slow

1.25x is the starting point for me.
