Think they're still deciding whether the season will be conference only or not.

The SEC hasn't made an announcement yet.

If it follows what other conferences are doing, there will be more conference games (4 per weekend) and no midweek games once conference play starts.

I think one under-discussed reason the SEC coaches are pushing for more conference games is to alleviate roster crunches after this year. More games against conference opponents means better information for pro scouts. That means a higher likelihood of getting more guys into pro ball. Which allows for better roster management.

The following is from an email from Jamie Tutko to Coaches Committee members about an hour ago:
quote:

The boys have been working hard all Christmas Break in preparation for this season. They will be coming back into town this weekend, and our first official team meeting of the season will be next Monday.

We will have 2½ weeks of individual practices on the field beginning Monday as well and our first official team practice and scrimmage will be January 29th.

I know a lot of you all probably have questions regarding the schedule and tickets for this season.

I will be completely honest with you all, and as of right now, we do not know what our schedule will look like.

There is a meeting with the SEC later this week and hopefully a decision on the schedule will be made then. As soon as it is, I will let you all know first!

We are currently preparing for a normal schedule until they tell us different. If everything goes according to plan, we will open up the season at home on February 19th against Notre Dame. That will be Military Appreciation Weekend at The Box and we will play Army on Saturday and Air Force on Sunday.

Not for LSU, but there are several for other schools around the country. But you aren't interested in that.

Thanks to Russian there was news in this thread I hadn't heard before. I'm waiting to hear if fans will be allowed to attend scrimmages.
