Comes out in 2 days, seems to be getting pretty good reviews. "Prequel" to BoTW. Who all is getting it, I'm still on the fence, and a little more after today after finding out:
****Light, very very light Spoilers****
So it appears there is a controversy over the story... has anyone else seen this?
****End of extremely light spoilers****
Everything I've read is it does a really good job of using the BoTW fighting style and has really gotten away from the Warrior gameplay style, making this the best entry as a starting point in the Warrior franchise.

Demo is lots of fun. My oldest is definitely getting this for Christmas.

Played the demo? Have you seen any gameplay whatsoever?

I have only played BoTW, I have not played Hyrule Warrior: Definitive Edition. Does Definitive Edition need to be played or can I skip it and go straight to Age of Calamity?

You can skip it, Age of Calamity is only connected to BoTW and not to any other game

It looks pretty killer coming from someone who absolutely loved BoTW.

There’s officially a canon timeline split.
Again. JS.

I'm getting it. I don't typically like these games, but the tie in and the characters alone were enough to at least try.
I did like the 15 mins. I've played of Hyrule Warriors enough to give this a shot.

I wasn’t a fan. Too much of a split from the franchise for me to enjoy.

The demo is out and it has BOTW scenery but it is all fighting.
What is the controversy?
I would never spend $60 for just fighting. I enjoy the puzzles dungeons exploring more.
Unless it changes (so far it is like contra) but easy fighting. The controls to use bombs and what not are strange... I will not be buying it after demo
Press A & B at the same time--- or is it Y & X? I forget to kick arse.

****SPOILERS YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED****
So apparently it's not a direct prequel and in a "gotcha" moment in the end there is a time travel event that actually allows the heros to win in the calamity instead of the game actually leading into BoTW.
People aren't too happy about it, but it kinda makes me more interested
**END SPOILERS**
So yeah

Well we know BOTW goes on times 2 so who cares? No worries about any spoilers, really.
I expired my demo JUST when I saw it had a the same kinda map as BOTW.
To me not worth 60 bucks to play on.
I want dungeons & puzzles. I loved getting the alert noise in BOTW when there was a shrine nearby.
A lot probably love this game. I don't.

It's a Warriors game that has a plot that happens to be a prequel, to some extent, to the events of Breath of the Wild.
I have no idea why reviewers are leading people into thinking that it's some kind of warriors/BotW hybrid because it certainly isn't.
I do enjoy it for what it is, but I like Warriors games quite a bit. The framerate of this title is atrocious though. Almost no reviewer mentions how bad this game "feels" to play. It feels like it's running at about 20 FPS most of the time.
