LINK / STAMFORD, Conn. – Oct. 20, 2020 – NBC will broadcast a special two-hour “All-American Bowl: Declaration Day” on Saturday, Jan. 2, celebrating each of this year’s 100 All-Americans as NBC Sports Group today announced that the 2021 All-American Bowl will not be played due to health and safety concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The All-American Bowl, which was originally scheduled to be played in January 2021 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, annually showcases the best high school football players in the country.

No shite.

NBC is still going to be doing a special where a bunch of kids are committing on that date.

I thought you all knew every facet of the Leigh family life around here?

I think the vast majority, if not all, of those announcements (announcement special to replace the game+announcements) will be streaming with NBC setting up some local stuff for many recruits.

We should offer somewhere special, close by but not on-campus, for Leigh and his family to come to announce. If he's leaning us, they will likely take it. Have a the "sponsor" of the location pay for as much as we can get away with. Note that is different than "what the rules allow". Hell, if we're not recruiting anyone else on the team bring the whole offense down from VA.

To boot, notify NBC of it and let them set up the feed. It'll be great PR for recruiting when they disclose they are on location at __________________ at the request of the Leigh family. It just happens to be in BR or NOLA.

Like I've said before, if he visits again it will be to commit to us. Offer these things to see if he'll accept and go ahead and seal the deal.

This isn’t as big a deal to an OT as it is to a skill position player.

You are right. Except if he wants to play for Championships, he’ll be in a position to do so immediately at OU. That won’t happen at LSU unless there is an overhaul on the coaching staff.

Championships? Big12 Championships? OU has been bounced out of the CFP so many times they are almost out of the conversation now.

You are right. They have been. But they are getting that opportunity to every year. LSU caught lightening in a bottle last year. They won’t have a shot this year. Nor next year. Maybe two-three years from now, LSU will get another shot. But OU can win the Big 12 next season and immediately have a shot. Same for the year after. Maybe they get blown out once they get there, but maybe not with the recruiting class they are putting together.

Whether you want to admit it or not, this team isn’t going to go from a 3-7 team this year to a national championship contender next year. LSU is a number of pieces away - both players and coaches.

Is LSU gets the defensive mistakes figured out, they will be able to compete for another title next year. Marshall is gone, but with Brennan healthy and young receivers like Arik Gilbert and Boute stepping up, they will be able to score with anyone. The talent is there on defense, we just haven’t seen them play as a unit yet. Hopefully they get it figured out.
