247 Football Rankings

It’s almost laughable that when LSU gets a highly rated recruit, 247 sports update their rankings and our recruits plummet down the charts. May be a coincidence but it’s highly frustrating.

Yeah. I suppose it’s slightly annoying but it has very little meaning in the grand scheme of things though. And if you look at Alabama, their recruits always go up a lot. I mean, a couple of years ago some random said he had a bama offer and they made him a 247 and he was then in the top 300 off of a Facebook post.

Keanu Koht just moved up 84 spots. 84. EIGHT. FOUR.
In less than a year’s time, with no offseason camps for further evaluation, Saivion Jones has rose from being ranked 300 overall to 127.

It all balances out. The 247 average ranking went from .9247 to .9253. It doesn’t change the players that are future LSU Tigers. This is an extremely solid class with the potential to finish strong w Leigh, M. Smith, and Foreman.

Koht, Jones, nuss have all risen greatly. The only person thats really fallen is Landon but from everything we've heard he has struggled at times and then the injury. The only headscratcher may be kiner. Other than that, people who have dropped a handful of spots are more about other guys moving up than them dropping.

Do people do *any* research whatsoever when they lodge this complaint? First of all, we had tons of guys make huge jumps *up* the list with this most recent update--far more big jumps than almost any other team at the top. Second, the supposed "demotions" are almost never actually demotions--they're players who retain the same rating and get jumped by someone whose rating improves. If there's a prospect who jumps 100 spots, there will be 1 guy who moves up and 99 guys who "move down".
Also, literally every single fanbase says this exact same shite. If you've ever listened to Barton actually talk about the rankings or the evaluation process, you would know how silly it is to cry bias. Yeah, the Yale grad sure has it out for LSU. In particular, the complaint that "they havent even played any more games so how can they be moved down?!" is especially idiotic. It makes zero sense unless you assume that the 247 staff has literally consumed every bit of available information about ~1000 kids across the country.

Wasnt he having a great season and got injured? Actually was a story on this site about it,I think. Do they drop players based on injury? If so,you can quit scratching

Overall, LSU player average just moved up from 92.47 to 92.53 in the composite.

I said when we get a new highly rated recruit those new guys rankings go down and they all did. Our lower ranked recruits moving up the rankings picking our overall score up a tad is not what I’m referring to.

Jackson's is the only "fall" with any real meaning. Likely part because of his injury and part because a kid moved up at his position(in this particular case it's likely because of Koht). A drop in positional order can translate to 10-15 spots overall.
Every other drop is just other kids moving up. It's a normal part of the process. If you look at every kid in the 247, 200+ dropped. If kids move up then a dominant effect of drops is started.
The 3 ups greatly outweigh the drops hence the rise in avg per commit. Kohts rise is a pretty significant bump. Jones and Nussmeir are strong bumps and likely the result of them moving up moreso positionally than overall.
In short, this rankings update was a win for us in the grand scheme. Not everyone is out to get LSU.

Yeah if we can get two of those three any combo it will have to be the best finish for lsu in forever.
Lsu has never had good string finishes in recruiting game from what I remember.
