My conservative friends seem mostly unmoved and annoyed by the debate last night in that it was the typical liberal talking points and gotcha type questions that trump has been dealing with his entire presidency. On the other side my liberal and democrat friends seem to have the wind taken out of them with Bidens performance posting things like "I think Biden won but America lost last night" or "both candidates suck". This to me says that many of them aren't going to bother making it to the polls or even get their mail in ballots which is a win for trump.

Biden needed to win that debate a lot more than Trump did. He did absolutely nothing to inspire turnout and he looked feeble and 150 years old

Anyone notice Trump vs Biden's look? Trump's tan was even on point, definitely a nice golden than orange. Biden looked like a pale nursing home patient.

Your Facebook is an echo chamber. You should consider looking outward

Just so you know, your liberal friends’ Facebook feeds are also telling them that Joe won. That’s what the feeds are designed to do. They tell you what you want to hear so that you keep using them.

I’m not making a statement in who actually won one way or the other, but just wanted to warn you that you should never find much comfort from your Facebook feed. It tells you effectively nothing about the overall trends.

Meh. The world’s a big place, and we don’t all discover every part of it at the same rate. As a general rule, I don’t think it’s a good idea to deride someone for learning something important just because they learned it later than I did. In part because I’m sure our roles are almost certainly reversed for some other important component of society. That’s the nature of living in an interdependent world.

Having been in the Navy my group of friends on facebook ranges all over the spectrum and I am just telling you what their posts are saying which is that they are disenchanted with Biden. Whereas the views of Trump good and bad remain the same. This is coming from friends who range from an administrator at an abortion clinic to an ardent BLM supporter. Im not looking at random feeds from talking heads just what my friends are posting and based on that I feel like trump got the win in this regard.

Its incredible you read only the title and not my statement to understand that I am talking about what my friends are posting and not just talking heads.

It was just a couple of curmudgeons doing their curmudgeon thing. Nobody lost anything last night. Matter of fact, my portfolio is up this morning.

I hear you. But the portion of your friends who’s posts are popping up on your feed are very unlikely to be all of your friends who are posting on Facebook. Facebook’s algorithms will pick out the portion of your friends who post the material that is most likely to affirm your position and show you those posts, while it will pick out the portion of your friends who post material you dislike and keep those posts off your feed. You’d have to literally go to each and every friend’s individual profile to get that information.

Not trying to post any of this to outright dismiss your final conclusion of the night being better for trump; that’s very possible, and maybe what you are seeing on your feed is a reflection of it. More so just sending along a general warning that you really really really don’t want to be extrapolating the trends on facebook’s feed to be indicative of the larger population. It is an exceptionally well designed machine built specifically to keep you engaged, not to keep you informed. So if there happens to be any inconsistency at all between the two, it’s worthwhile to be aware of which one Facebook is feeding you
