Quick report from Midtown Mobile, close to Murphy Highschool.
The area is full of streets lined with live oaks, magnolias and pine sprinkled in.
My street was fortunate... No oaks down.
Other streets not so lucky... Several streets blocked by blown up oaks.
Getting from Springhill to Midtown was an adventure.
Springhill got rocked pretty hard.. many trees blocking roads.
No power here and I have the top section of a magnolia on my roof. Fortunately no visible major damage or evidence of water ingress.
Stay safe out there with generators, chain saws and the like.
PS People are driving like retards... intersections with no lights are a nightmare.

Glad you’re ok.
Now that I’m kinda coming off the initial shock I can say that all material things are replaceable. Might be a PITA , but long as you’re healthy it’ll be all good. I’ve honestly kinda enjoyed not having power. The sense of community is at all time high and I’ve spent every second outdoors. People have it too easy these days anyway. We needed a good humbling and boy did this do it

Is there anywhere I can apply for monetary help? Not working this week, not working til idk when, losing my truck, etc... could use some help

I'm sure FEMA will be there ... or try searching online for FEMA assistance. I know in Lake Charles people were told to apply online BUT they seemed to have more success calling.

Got back yesterday from helping out at my parents house in Perdido. They got about 2.5' of water inside, no wind damage to their house that we could see, but almost every other house on their street had siding blown off and some had fairly extensive roof damage. The amount of power poles down in the street was unbelievable, some snapped in half, some just laid over. Traffic was minimal and everyone was having to drive on the shoulder/oncoming lane because the poles were just laying in the street. Linemen were crawling all over the key, and my parents actually got power back yesterday afternoon, couldn't believe it.

update: the western wall went over son's house in morgantown and the east wall went over our property by big lagoon in pensacola. the morgantown house lost 3 pieces of hardy siding, and the carpet was damp by a door. the pensacola property lost 4 pine trees and some sections of wood fence. neither place flooded, we had a surprisingly good outcome at both places while places all around both locations were badly damaged.
