Me and the SO are headed for my birthday in mid October. Decided to stay in S Tahoe. Any suggestions on best/nicest hotels in that area?

I've stayed at the Marriott Timber Lodge a few times. Never had any issues and enjoyed it. Can walk across the state line to the casinos to drink and gamble.

Something upscale with either Great Lake views or a great patio that opens to the forest.

We are looking like something in the 200-250 a night in mid October

The Landing is pretty swanky.

So many Tahoe threads lately. I'm fully expecting half the country to be there next week when I go.

Couple of SF friends have houses in Tahoe and said it's crazy effing crowded. They've been there all summer and said the crowds haven't slowed.

We're headed out to freeload in a few weeks and hopefully the crowds have thinned out with school (maybe?) back in session.

Damn, I was hoping a little pull back.

Oh well, I guess everyone had the same idea.

We were at Hard Rock in late June. If it wasn't for our group (24 golfers and wives) all getting comped rooms, I would stay somewhere else. The hotel is already showing its age since its last renovation in 2014, plus we had no maid service (5 nights), no valet, no bag storage. One of the 3 elevators wasn't working for 15 floors and the others had me worried. Weed smell in quite a few places.

If you have Marriott reward points, the timber lodge is good enough.

I'll be at the Hyatt Regency this week.

We'll see how it goes.

Agreed that Hard rock is trash. Harvey and Harrahs are the nicest casinos.
