You have to take the class again because you let it go.

There is no renewal course. You have to take the regular course all over.

You have to reapply like the first time you got it. Since it lapsed you have to resubmit fingerprints, take the entire class (not just renewal), etc.
When you just renew (without letting it lapse) you just have to take the class (some instructors allow you to only take the shooting portion and legal update) and submit a form online.
This^^. Some caveats. Do the applications ALL online, not paper. From what I've read, the process seems to go faster and smoother when the prints are digital and are done at LSP HQ's in BR.

HOWEVER, If a permit expired during the "shelter in place" executive order that JBE issued, those permits are still valid.
Once the travel/shopping/stay at home restrictions are lifted, State Police will issue guidance on a window of time for renewals (and for new permit applications).
There are already a couple of places that have resumed classes.
I'm getting quite a few calls from people wanting to take a class, but I haven't resumed my class yet - very few people want to be in a room with a bunch of strangers for 9 hours at distances much closer than "social distances." (And I don't plan to hand out N-95 masks.)
As was stated, the OP will have to take a class. The only thing "extra" he has to do (that he wouldn't have had to do if he had renewed in time), is to get fingerprinted.

You start all over as if you never had a permit. That's why you don't let that shite expire.
Also, I don't know what wait times are today, but there was recently a massive backlog; LSP was blaming it on getting hacked back in November. I applied on Dec. 23 and didn't get my permit until the end of March, right before all this virus bullshite happened. Everything I did was 100% electronic. Application, payment, prints were done electronically at LSP headquarters, etc., and it STILL took three months and that was in the BEFORE times.
Open carry is likely in your near future unless you want to roll the dice and conceal without a permit.
