re: 24/7 Article on Will Stout: "It's not the videos, it's something else that matters here"

No it’s not. It’s an endorsement of LSU and an indictment of USC and their inability to develop film students more than anything if we are being honest.
it's not an indictment on that at all. the job stout and brown did amazingly is sports marketing and sports branding. that's why they will be heads of football video production.
believe it or not, there is a bit of a stigma of "liking sports" in the film industry. if you're a sports producer, you'll have a hard time landing a job on anything other than sports or at best reality tv. it's not exactly fair, but it's consistent. people don't allow you to make jumps from documentaries to feature films either.
so it's not that USC can't develop film school students. Their students go on to win academy awards and shoot marvel films. it's that their film students don't give a frick about shooting a hype video for a football team, because they're interested in telling their own stories, or getting paid MILLIONS to tell someone else's.
ETA: don't know why this is getting downvoted. nothing i said here is untrue.

If the NCAA were ethical and intellectually honest, Stout would be ineligible to make any videos for a year.

They were average and only made better in people's minds because of how the season turned out.

Oh, and the Song Girls. Forgot them. How does LSU compete with that? Not easily.
That is surprising to hear anyone say. I guess it could be possible he’s never actually seen our spirit girls?

This dumb. If I’m charting music for LSU band and I get a call from Juilliard to be a professor, I’m out.

Good debate. It’s hard to argue your logic. Thank you for your meaningful contribution to the discussion

I really have a hard time caring about this at all. Such a hard time in fact, I still don’t care.

That's what I'm saying...
