my uncle passed away at the end of last year and my mother who is in charge of his estate received his stimulus check.
I assume it is because she filed taxes on behalf of his estate, ironically, she hasnt received hers yet
I did a search in the Google machine and sure as shite recent articles on this.
Chicago Tribune

Yeah things get a little weird on this.
An older divorced man I know got one for his single filing. He later received a call from his ex freaking out because she had received one for the two of them herself.
You would think they could trace SSNs to calculate this shite.

Family member did, on the first day no less.
Her husband died 6 months ago.

It’s like people don’t understand that they didn’t do any checking in order to get the payments out as quick as possible. Not that the IRS does much checking on what you file anyway. If they did, much of the tax fraud that exists wouldn’t

Looks like he has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to refuse to co-sign the check. Without his signature the check cannot be cashed and he gets to screw her one last time.
