I mean, considering the Valve Index rocketed to top seller on the basis of just the announcement tells me that they are most certainly aware of what they're doing.

It's been on the top seller list. Prior to this game being announced, if you asked the average person what they wanted in a new Half-Life game, they'd say Half-Life 3. They're excited for this because its this or nothing.

Are there any hand attachments for the occulus like vive and index? I need this gaming experience

No index controllers are only for Steam VR headsets. You can get and use them with a Vive or a Pimax. Quest is supposed to get hand tracking without controllers though.

I just read today that my Occulus Quest can now be used as a full blown VR for PC with a simple USB C cable and their updated Occulus link software. Can use both Occulus and Steam games. Noice.

Hope its better than the Rift solution, it's buggy as shite to play steam games with Oculus equipment. News doesn't appear good for that though, it's suppose to be the same system since you are basically acting like a lower end rift.

Damn, I haven't heard those sound effects in more than a decade. I felt like I was just warped back in time and I love it.

Watching the character getting into cover makes me want to play Time Crisis now.

Looks awesome but I will have to hope someone else buys all the equipment so I can play it.

Considering the install base probably isn't that big, and the fact that it's a $60 game, there HAS to be a non VR version of this that will release a few months later.

Not according to the developers:

quote:

“We would love to be delivering a version of this that you could play with a mouse and a keyboard,” Valve’s Dario Casali says. “But as we said, it began as an exploration of VR. The more we used the controllers and the headset, the amount of possibilities these things give us, the more we realized that there’s so much opportunity that we can’t really translate back to the keyboard.”

With your head, hands, and feet measured in 3D space, “all simultaneously tracking and moving, you just can’t really get that with a mouse and keyboard. And when you put that into game mechanics, the kinds of interactions that we can do now we couldn’t possibly do with a mouse and keyboard. Like interacting with doors is one of the most obvious things.

quote:

“The amount of complexity that’s going on there, it’s just so hard. We would have to map an entire section of the keyboard dedicated just to interacting with doors if we wanted to have that kind of functionality. Whereas it’s so intuitive for you ’cause you know how a door works and you can sort of crack it open a little bit with one hand and put your gun through with the other.”

Maybe later on down the road but not within months of the VR release.

It’s free if you have an index, it’s already in my library.

how are you liking the Index? Better than Vive Pro?

Vive Pro screens are superior. Index is a ton more comfortable, has a supremely better mic, and the sound is incredible. I wish I could put my vive pro screens in my index though, the screens are just better. I have the wireless for Vives, I miss that a ton too if I go Index. Valve needs to release one for the Index.

The vive wands are arse, no comparison with the index controllers. I have warranty'ed 3 index controllers and 1 base station so far with the index though. Only thing that messed up on my OG Vive was the stupid wands because of the glue issue on the foam for the directional pad which was a self fix. I fixed it on the Vive Pro wands before I started using them.
