Why is Okafor getting any time with Jax on the bench?

With the rarest of exceptions Okafor is awful when he's on the court.

I think Jax is the better option always, but especially when Favors is in foul trouble.

Even if Okafor and Jax were the exact same skill level, you're just costing Jax playing/developing time on the court by putting in Okafor.

I would've loved to see Jax come in and slap an AD shot to the 10th row or at least try. Playing Okafor just feels like giving up

I’m guessing Al thought Okafor wouldn’t get tossed around as much as Jax yet Okafor was promptly tossed around the second he got in the game.

Exactly, Okafor doesn't solve any problems, and he just takes away important development time for a future centerpiece.

Jax must've said something about Gentry's wife or something.

yep I was like here we go with soft Okafor. He’s Jekyll and Hyde you never know which player is going to show. The Lakers pushed his shite in real quick

We are trying to win the game. Hayes is not capable of much. He can't rebound, he fouls, he can't shoot. He is just good for a highlight every now and then. All things equal, Okafor should have played over Hayes.

Hayes will have his time.

Okafor got a foul, scored no points, and only managed 2 rebounds, so he's just as bad as what you're saying Jax is,

If Jax had gone in, i don't think he could've done much worse, but let's assume, he scores no points and only gets one rebound. losing that rebound is well worth the development.

Oks for is a liability on defense. He doesn’t like it, he has no interest in playing d, and his real energy comes on the offensive end.

Hayes would have got tossed like a rag doll by Dwight Howard and McGee. It just wasn’t a good matchup for him. I assume Al thought the thicker frame of Okafor would do better but was simply not the case. Don’t think Hayes could have done any worse but I understand the mentality. We simply didn’t have bench bigs that matched up well that could give our starters a break. We need Hayes to bulk up a little and develop. He will be a force in the upcoming years.

Everyone was getting tossed around last night. Howard was allowed to get real physical with both Favors and Zion without any repercussions. Hayes would probably get beat up real bad the way the Lakers were allowed to be extra physical on their home court.

I know this is hard for you all to believe, but Okafor is a better rebounder than Jax. Not sure if I've ever seen Jax box out a single person.

If they are just playing someone to not play a starter, Jax should get every single one of those minutes. I get playing Okafor in a game you are trying to win over Jax though. He's marginally better.

Except for the first two games against LA, Jax was tossed around by all of the LA big men. Jax has the length and athleticism to compete with the Laker big men, but he is just too light in the arse

Jax isn’t much better especially of late. He would have gotten bullied by their bigs. Okafor got the nod because of his size
