Regardless of how you feel about smoking, this is definitely Government overreach. Let the owners of the apartments, condos, etc. govern their own shite.

Smoking inside your “private” home brings down the value for when they take it from you for not paying your taxes one day or if they feel like they have something better they can do with it.

I thought we were not supposed to worry about what went on in someone’s bedroom between two consenting adults?

True, but light up a fig after buttsecks and the smoke alarms go off.

My posting history shows strong civil libertarian values, overall and definite conservative values but the article is more hyperbole than fact.

In fact, almost every apartment dwelling bans smoking. Mine does in Orlando.

What is potentially new is condos and multi family dwellings but, I can imagine that a lot of condos already have this in their declarations.

Notice, however, they do not and cannot prohibit smoking in single family homes.

With that said, I'm not entirely sure, absent condo by laws, they can prohibit smoking in a dwelling you own.

This is why this is a completely unneccessary law and typical of a government dweeb that has a desire to lord over others. That moron should be drummed out of office and back under the appliance from which he scuttered.

I do not disagree with this. I liken politicians to those people that are on the board of your home owners association. The most miserable power hungry people you will ever see.

Economics will take care of the feasibility of allowing or disallowing smoking.

I wonder what would happen now if they let bars decide whether to be smoking or non smoking rather than a law prohibiting.

Seriously, when has prohibition ever worked?

Legislating autonomous behavior turned beer into Valentines Day Massacres and street-corner-marijuana into homicidal gang wars.

Leave it up to some self-righteous pricks to save you from yourself while creating an violent crime underworld over freaking tobacco. SMDH

This is still a dumb comment. If you read the story, it's clearly not in NYC.
