For a variety of other reasons, it’s a shame the Saints didn’t get a bye

Can you imagine New Orleans the weekend of 1/10 - 1/13? Saints hosting the divisional round followed by LSU in the NCG a day or two later. Would be bigger than Mardi Gras weekend.

Alas, Carroll is an idiot and Blough is garbage.

Maybe we get lucky and Monday kicks off one hell of a championship weekend in south Louisiana. We beat Minny and GB, Seattle beats Philly and SF, LSU-Clem on Monday, NO-Sea that weekend?

The Loss To Atlanta was the playoff Bye Week killer for the Saints. The Saints wirse game of the season is what cist the a top seed.

Both teams are about to exorcise demons from 2011-12 season.

I get blaming the Atlanta loss but the team is 13-3. Most other years that’s at least a 2 if not a 1. To think an NFL team is going to be “on” for 16 weeks is impossible.

San Fran lost to them too. It is a stupid point that keeps getting repeated. A lot played into a 13-3 team getting a wild card game.

13-3 got the 1 and 2 seed. We just seem to be cursed. Hopefully that ends this year, and we just win Super Bowls in years that end in 9

I'm with you. I think most of the melt about the Atlanta loss was/is due the Falcons being such a huge rival, they were 1-7 at the time, it happened at home & home flat the team came out after the bye week.

Every top seed in the NFL this year in both conferences has a bad loss on their resume. shite happens but like you said, it's very rare that you have 3 13-3 teams in the same year, in the same conference.

Exactly. All fans are looking at their teams and thinking how could they lose these games.

GB lost at home to Philly, and @ LAC
49ers lost to the same Falcons team

Saints lost to a team that was also coming off of a bye, and used that bye week to completely rewrite their script. They were 1-7 at the time, and finished 6-2 w/ some quality wins. They also shuffled their coaching staff. All of this meant the film the Saints had actually worked against them.

Any other year we're the 1 seed easily

We lost to ATL off a bye. Might be a blessing not to stop our momentum.

And we’re built to win on the road + we get a really weak Packer team.

If SEA can upset SF, we could get a home NFC Championship.

Yep. What hurt was all 3 losses being against NFC teams, and 2 being at home. It sucks being 13-3 and no bye, but the rules make sense in this instance.

This team only lost 3 games.

With our Hall of Fame QB injured for 5 weeks.

While playing two teams that were also vying for the top seed in the NFC during the season.

The fact that we ran away with the division and were in the hunt for the top seed is pretty amazing in and of itself.

That game likely caused it but if Atl doesn’t start their run against us, Quinn gets fired and their interim doesn’t beat SF, so it’s Kind of a moot point...

Edit: still get better record than GB...I withdraw my point

Loss To Atlanta

Completely my fault. I was at homestead-Miami and didn't have my Saints shirt on. I'll never forgive myself.
