If a coach isn’t an attention whore or money hound (especially since one is making millions already), it seems like that coaches are taking this route.
The media makes the blue blood schools an absolutely headache if they’re not winning 11 games at minimum a year. IMO, the media holds the keys to your job and can start a shitstorm to get you fired when they want to.
I know I wouldn’t want to deal with that sort of thing. If you’re good enough, your program can be taken to the playoffs (Baylor, Utah). You don’t necessarily have to be a blue blood to become a powerhouse if you’re given the appropriate time (see Clemson).
If you’re good enough, you’ll be found/noticed.

I think Michigan would be a good spot for him. Midwest guy who can recruit. Not sure he’d win National Championships, but I think he’d do really well there.
