Especially once 5g comes out, that's really going to hurt these people that charge extra for internet. Unless I have major work to do, I can generally get away with just using my phone or my phone as a hot spot now. Especially for $20/ day internet fee.
The problem I see is some of the complaints in the OP were about fee's that not everyone is charged: parking, internet, per person, etc.
If you have 1 guy that uber's there from the airport and doesn't use the internet, his bill is justifiably lower then a family of 4 that drives in and has 2 teenagers that want to sit in the hotel and play video games online while their parents gamble.

People that pay for internet at hotels are usually business travelers that put that cost on their expense reports so 5g isn’t going to change that

I'll give you that, but those aren't the people bitching about any of the fees in the OP either.

How is this a scam? Tourists don't pay local taxes outside of when they visit. Places like Vegas and Beach towns have tons of expenses due to tourists such as larger police and fire departments, more road use, etc. that local municipalities have to budget. Making visitors pay for what they use seems pretty fare to me.
and all these extra tourism taxes are voted on and passed by locals.
I travel a shite ton to Vegas and I have zero problem paying the extra taxes; I expect it. I can live with the resort fee as well. if it didn't exist, the room rate would just be higher.

Resort fees on the rise
3 and 7 dollars
Nobu is like 500 a night
An extra 7 might end them

It's not the amount of it going up. It is the fact that they are going up while this is an issue. People just do not want to get hit with it on the back end when you can easily put it on the front end

The problem is that is not how marketing and sales works these days. People whine all the time but the reality is that if you charge $300/ night you are going to do fewer reservations then if you charge $250 plus $25 guest fee plus $25/ night for parking.
Its like luggage fees. It sucks to pay for luggage on a flight, but at the same time if I'm not bringing luggage why should they build it in?
Is the Vegas strip hurting for money?
Eta: Like I said earlier if the fees price you out then you couldn't afford it in the first place. If there are $50 in fees, the price of the hotel room isn't going to drop $50 if they make a law against it. The fees will just drop and hotel room rate go up.

Yeah it offends me and my company is paying and not me. It's not my scene.
And yep I still bitch and try to get a few $ off here and there even though work is paying and not me.
I can't help myself. It's in my DNA. My boss is the richest person in TN and he's been known to stop by my desk before and thank me for getting a credit from a vendor we were using. . He gets a kick out of me saving the company a buck here and there.

Bro, Vegas makes it's money off of people who can't afford to be there in the first place. The Saudi whales aren't paying all the bills

I was there last weekend and stayed at The Westin just off the strip, used Marriott Rewards points, and paid no resort fee of any sort. The people we were with mentioned how high theirs was at the MGM so I was expecting to pay the fees. Since they didn’t charge me for points redemption, maybe that is the way to go. Just a thought for those that have points to burn.
