New to the Outdoor Community. Just bought a boat, and I want to eat!
Where are some good spots in upper Lafourche/Terrebonne to cast? What kinds of baits do I need to be successful? Any help is appreciated!

Bayou Black, Lake Boeuf, Lake Fields
Not in Lafourche, but not far away: Lake Des Allemands, Cataouatche, Salvador.
ETA: I’m originally from Lafourche, but haven’t fished those places regularly in over 15 years. So, hopefully some others will be able to help you more on bait selection and tactics.

Spinner baits, worms, brush hogs all work.

For a beginner I would go to Lake Boeuf on a slightly windy day and drift the lake throwing a spinner bait and a piece of plastic. It is shallow and full of grass. Fish around the islands, duck blinds and in the middle.

For fricks sake man, that lake is way too crowded. Y'all should all stay away.
Plus they are suction dredging Theriot 's canal right now so the lake will probably be muddy for a while.
