One of the newest top additions to the Baltimore Police Department was robbed at gunpoint alongside his wife over the weekend, according to officials.

Deputy Commissioner Daniel Murphy and his wife were walking Friday night around 9 p.m. near Patterson Park in the southeast part of the city when a white SUV with four people inside pulled up next to them, police told FOX Baltimore.

Two black males, believed to be about 18 years old, then got out of the vehicle and showed a handgun while demanding the victims hand over their property, police said.

Murphy, who is listed as the deputy commissioner for the compliance bureau in a Baltimore Police Department organizational chart, was hired earlier this year by Commissioner Michael Harrison. Murphy previously worked as the deputy superintendent of compliance for the New Orleans Police Department, where the two previously worked together, according to the Baltimore Sun.

So people are moving from Nola to Baltimore?
Isn’t Baltimore the murder capital?

He thought he was safe...he wasn't on the eastside or westside.

One thing I learned from the wire

Pretend you’re a blue collar polish guy when in Baltimore

I don't think anyone has ever tried to claim Baltimore as a safe city, but now they're DEFINITELY screwed.

Welcome to Baltimore! If there is anything else you need just let the locals know.

Daniel Murphy

So I'm fairly certain that this is the guy who was mainly responsible for adherence to the consent decree for NOPD. and Harrison brought him to Baltimore in anticipation of that dept getting their own consent decree, which he would then manage.

I'll be curious if this changes his opinion on things.

If they find the perps, I have a feeling this is going to end poorly for them.
