Volvagia mentioned something about reading the history of 0.0 politics on the previous page. That caught my interest lol.

I’ll have to find something that gives a summary.

It’s definitely not something I can talk about off the top of my head.

If you can’t find anything don’t sweat it. I may do some research myself tonight lol.

You do something that interests you and play. Keep in mind it’s almost completely player driven, and requires a lot of dedication. You can play casually in empire easily enough, but the fun is in 0.0. But be prepared for 2 AM CTA to help protect a criticial asset that comes out of reinforcement mode. Honestly, for all of the headaches I’ve suffered and time sunk into the game, I’ve never played a game that felt so close to home. I don’t know if it is because of the fact that actions have real world consequences (for instance, logistics and supply lines are a thing. Titans, the biggest ships in the game, aren’t valued as warships. They are valued as strategic assets allowing for quicker reinforcement in battles and fleet movements that would be otherwise impossible.) or the fact that death carries such a high price. I’ve never been so tense for so long in any game ever (single or multiplayer), than the one time I was in a stealthy blockade runner transporting original blueprints of critical items from empire to our base of operations in 0.0. Ship hulls and ammo, to replenish losses in defense and to lessen our vulernability on a heathy supply line. Even timing the run for immediately after the server reset, it was an epic trial, similar to old WW2 submarine warfare. Being trapped in an interdiction bubble at chokepoints while active players are hunting and seeking looking to get within 2 km of you which would force de cloak. Had to manually pilot the craft between the maneuvering players and their drones, at times having to get within 50 meters of the de cloak threshold. Knowing that my only defense was in secrecy, that while I had a few cards to play in my loadout, they were just shots of luck and hope. Then when I warped out, and got to the next gate, them trying to find you in the next sector because they can’t stand prey getting away or because they are actively at war with your faction and are attempting to choke the enemy effort via blockade. Fun times. Almost makes me want to try to step back in.

My son asked me about this game last night, had no clue what to tell him. Apparently it's making a comeback with the 10-12 year olds. Did a Google search and this post came up. Anyone here still playing it?

10 to 12 year olds? That’s shocking. Eve is like the polar opposite of a game like Fortnite. Not really something you can just pick up on a whim and have much fun with. At least, that’s how it was when I last played 5 or 6 years ago.

Eve was always a lot more fun to read about than actually play

If you let him start playing Eve now, his life will essentially be over. You might as well supply your son with cheap booze and women of questionable reputation, so he could at least have a little fun before his inevitable downward spiral.

Are you a tremendous a-hole?
If yes, this is the game for you.

If not, probably try something else.

I’m slowly working my way through the tutorial. I can see how people get sucked into this game.
