What's worth playing in and around Austin. I see cheap packages for the Omni hotel downtown with rounds at Wolfdancer, Teravista, Onion Creek, Avery Rance and Gray Rock

Thanks in advance

Ive played Grey Rock and enjoyed it.

Random story, when I played it Chris Kline from American Pie was teeing off in the group before me .

Wolfdancer is pretty sweet if there’s a “cheap” deal to play it. It’s especially cool if you’re a South Louisiana Flat Lander and would enjoy a little elevation change

Decided on Horseshoe Bay Resort. Going to play Apple Rock and Ram Rock.

Grey Rock. Good course, one of the best public in town, but I think falconhead is better value for public courses

Horseshoe Bay is a good choice.

Gray Rock is owned by the city now and have been having issues with their greens. In fact, all the main city courses’ greens have gone to trash.

Wolfdancer has seen better days as well.

Thanks. I saw where Apple and Ram had new greens and updates in the past year. Id like to try Summit Rock as well, its the Jack Nicklaus signature course there.

Falconhead, Grey Rock, Avery ranch. For a cheaper fun little muni, Roy Kizer isn’t a bad course either.

I live next to Avery Ranch probably one of the best public courses around Austin IMO. Also Falconhead . When I first moved here in 06’ I sold real estate before the collapse and was a guest member so I could bring clients. I’m assuming ur staying at the resort to have access to those courses since their private? Anyway Ram is tight but most challenging. Apple I think more fun and scenic and Slick will make u feel like a good golfer but all very nice. Have fun

Change of plans. Horseshoe overbooked so I'm staying at Barton Creek and playing the Crenshaw today.

Kizer’s greens are hot garbage right now.

That’s a shame. They were in pretty good shape when I played in March/April if I remember right. Guess they aren’t dealing with the heat too well
