On a forum I moderate, admittedly, MUCH less busy than here, we have a merge thread tool in our thread tools.

Reason I ask is that there are two contemporaneous threads about the Andrew Robison/Hahnville/Vandebilt Catholic issue in More Sports. Both are good, both have solid information, but going forward the discussion could be improved if the threads could be merged.

I'm curious, is all.
Thanks.

Is this your attempt at getting chicken's attention to let him know you'd like to be an ADMIN?

Oh HELL no.

Anyone who ASKS for that is not a good fit. I hold that to be true on any online platform.

No, no, no, no.
I work two jobs already, there is no way I could moderate a bbs that is even one-fourth as busy as this one.

Like so much lately, I am perhaps too curious, it seems.

Did you just call our mods unemployed bums with too much spare time?

That's how long it has been since I last looked in here. I would hope that means things are good on TD, at least from my perspective.

How would merging threads work with the reply format of this website. Wouldn’t it just come out as one cluster frick of mixed responses/conversation

That's more technical than my ability to understand. It would depend upon the forum software. On ours we get to choose which thread to make the final thread, and the posts are merged in by post times by the board software.

No clue about TD software, but it's kind of clusterfricky on a busy message board with people replying to individual posts rather than on a basic bbs where users just reply to the topic. Probably simpler to let the duplicate topic fall down the page, or delete it.
