I'm sure he thought he was worth 7.5-8 million a year and his agent told him he would get that much on the open market. Guess he felt insulted with the initial saints offer. Bet reality bit him in the arse when he found out that was his true market value

Damn. 16 upvotes and only 3 downvotes.

Does this mean we can talk shite about Mark Ingram now, around here? I've been hammered in the past for talking shite about him so I keep it in and don't pollute the board but I'm busting at the seams. I've always hated that motherfricker. It only helps that he's a fricking Gump.

Ingram's agent misjudged the market. He thought he was going to get more. We had to move on.

This was a case of an agent doing what makes him a little more money while not caring what makes his client happier.

True but the agent works for the player, not the other way around. Ingram could have told his agent, "Look, I like it here in New Orleans and I want to stay. I'm going to take the offer and you're just going to have to deal with it." But that didn't happen. So my guess is that the agent told Ingram that he could get him 7-8 million/yr. When the Saints offered 4.5, Ingram & Co. were insulted and that's why they didn't return calls. Then suddenly it became a buyer's market and Ingram was forced to take a deal substantially lower than what they expected. In short, they overplayed a hand that wasn't as strong as they thought it was.

At the end of the day, the agent got his and Ingram will have to deal with playing for the ravens.

We don't know if the agent told Ingram to grab that saints deal either.

It's probably a little bit of both.

We saw it in the playoffs, we started moving away from Ingram. He loves it here, but any competitive guy will say he would like to be a starter.

Year 1 of Kamara was a co-existence. Year 2 was clearly shifting away from Ingram.

He saw it as a chance to make more money and more playing time.
