Wade has said if we lose in the big dance it’ll be to a team like Florida. What is it that they do that gives us such a hard time? We have the obvious size advantage that didn’t give us an upper hand on them. Is it their scheme? Hopefully we pin point that because I feel teams will watch the tape and try to use it as a blue print in the tournament.

Alternate their man and zone d just enough to keep us out of rhythm. They usually switch to the other one just as we figure out the first one.

Knocking the crap out of our guards driving to rim and not getting called for fouls.

That’s a big part of it.

3 point shooters that have success and draw the defense to the perimeter to open up the inside. Doesn't help when they can hit contested threes at will either. They run a LOT of set plays as well. They have a good coach. Damn good coach.

Exactly, force us to shoot 3s which we obviously are struggling with to say the least.

Tonight is an outlier. LSU went up 32-21 and looked like they were going to pull away. Then the unthinkable happened:

Florida went a 14-minute stretch between the two halves with only a single foul called on them. They were able to put a ton of pressure on LSU defensively with no consequence. It put the team out of rhythm.

Or have their man jump over the back of ours on a rebound and have the refs call jump ball before either player lands back on the court

Limiting transition is key too, very few easy points on the break

They really do have a good coach. That’s why I don’t understand how they don’t have a better record when they shoot the ball so well and play great defense.

They control pace and Wade hasn’t done anything to counter it until he threw the press at them late which led to a 10-0 run. Maybe he’s kept it in the bag so he doesn’t burn our guys out but we’ve needed it in both games and only saw it late tonight. The refs were also considerably favoring Florida tonight which was predictable.

Best defensive team in the SEC with us and they attack the rim while finding someone to score points plus they were at their home court and got favorable calls.

The thing Florida does well is aggressively hedge our high ball screens. They also rotate very well out of that double in the hedge. Because Tremont is a smaller guard, it pushes him further away from the basket and breaks the flow of the offense

They do an excellent job of double teaming our guards and they have a really hard time finding the open man. If they do find the open man it’s usually too late.

This and they dare us to shoot 3s. They know we dont want to but they leave it open for us. Also this works so well for them because they are a good defensive of team. They very good at helping the other defender.

What interesting is, if Florida ever caught us on a good three point shooting night. We would blow them out.
