Drinking and weight-loss - where's the happy medium?

I've seen many different articles and other literature in my research, but nothing definitive or that gets into specific quantities. The most potentially interesting thing I've read is that moderate drinking is OK "once you've hit your weight goals."
I've started cutting calories, and doing moderate exercise. I've completely eliminated beer. Lately I've been having one bourbon neat or a vodka and soda a night. So we're talking at most 120 calories of alcohol in any given day.
Giving up beer was hard enough, so I'd rather be able to keep my unwind drinky-poo in the evening. But is that doing anything significant to thwart my weight loss goals?

It depends on your diet.
If you are counting calories, just keep it to where you are in a deficit.
If you are doing keto, your liver stops using fat and burns alcohol, so it stalls your weight loss while your liver finishes off the alcohol.
I still have a drink on a few weeks nights. Im losing weight, but dont want to go crazy on the way

Exactly.
I'm somewhat counting calories, but also limiting carbs (simple sugars, breads, pastas more specifically).
I knew the alcohol typical disturbs the process, I just couldn't imagine the small amount I'm having would show a noticeable difference with or without. I guess that's where I've been looking to fill in the details gap from what I've been reading.

For me, I stay away from it on the weekdays and weekends when I can.
If it were just one beer or one whiskey it wouldn't be a problem but I like having multiple of them
Staying away ensures I don't take in 500+ calories of liquid

I'd rather binge on saturdays than have one or two during the week; seems like i lose weight slowly during the week and interupt (without gaining) on the weekends with tequila soda limes

I've drank bourbon neat and vodka sodas when serious about weight loss and drinking but never heard of this. Sounds great.
What tequila? I assume there are a dozen bottles in that $15-$30 range that are great but it is something I have yet to explore.

I got into tequila a few years ago. I liked the Tres Agave Repasado. In a pinch, the 1800 repasado would work.

I've seen a video from Omar Isuf where he says studies have shown that 1-2 drinks per week won't harm body composition or weight loss if the calories are accounted for. So take that as you will; I don't know what study he's talking about. Never looked into it much.
I allow myself 1-2 beers per week. As calories get low, it's tough to fit them in so I drink even less. Often times my wife and I will split one.

I usually stick to liquor with 0 cal drinks. Does the job with less calories.

I think the "lighter" or clear liquors have less calories.
I do like you and drink whiskey/bourbon neat, but I think doing tequila is the way to go if you really want to limite calories in since it's clear

Stay away from beer, and dark liquors. Vodka with soda water and a squeeze of lime was my go to drink.

Eh, whiskey is dark because of the wood. I've looked into it and bourbon and scotch is within 5-10 calories of vodka.
The real advice is to stay away from high proof liquors. Which I don't, but I've set up my calorie intake to account for the 120-130 calories that comes from the barrel proof stuff.

I love beer but haven't had one since Jan 10th. I miss the taste but I feel much better drinking Tito's and water w/ lime. If I know I'm going to have more than a couple I try to set my calorie limit in food to allow for multiple drinks. I actually drink less in a 3 hour period with friends than I would if I was pounding Miller Lites. So I consume less calories and end up not drinking as much.
