It was lowered to 18 again in 1996, but only for a few months before losing the challenge on that issue.

This is the answer. I turned 18 in 1996. The law went into effect in 1995 but then there was this 2 week loophole the next year while it was challenged or some shite.

This sounds correct. I didn't care at that time anyway. I had moved on to X.

The legal drinking age was 18 when I was growing up, and the maturity level from 18 to 21 was pretty much nothing whatsoever, so I really don’t understand why it had to change to 21. It served no purpose whatsoever IMO, other than to tell young men serving in the military that they’re old enough to die for this country, just not old enough to drink a beer in this country. Pretty damn absurd if you ask me.

Me too. It's hard to remember the details from 22 years ago

I got in trouble one time with the police while in college here in NC for drinking. Cops were giving me the business and after a while asked me for my ID and where was I from. I said Louisiana sir. He then asked me what the drinking age was in La and I said 18. He then educated me on how it was 21 in NC and then let me go.
