The whole triple v double gripe is the dumbest silliness so far IMO. Who cares what they call it.
Insofar as i will post about it, i "care" because words mean things. Now granted, breweries are not subjected to any guidelines whatsoever. They can brew a stout and call it a kolsch if they want. There isn't an FDA guideline stating they must label it by style. But, it's common courtesy to be accurate on the label, as to what is on the bottle. To me, triple IPA means, "boozey mess". I've never had an IPA over 10% that wasn't just booze. I personally, don't care for that high alcohol. So when Atlas was released last year as a TRIPLE IPA, i thought to myself "no thanks". Come to find out, it's 9%. Which is still a little high for my tastes, but Parish did very well and still does well with Ghost, so i'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm more inclined to search it out now that i know it's 9% and that it's not passed the dollar threshold of what i'm willing to pay for a non-sour beer.

For the record, I fricking love Parish. Going to pop open a DDH Ghost tonight and cheer the hater baws.

I know but just throwing it out there for the wider comments.

Actually, you seem to be taking too much offense to it.
I mean, hey, Parish likes to cheat and call it a Triple IPA even though it doesn’t meet the proper FDA standards of alcohol content for such a label. Maybe Andrew is unaware of this illegal activity because he doesn’t drink his own beer and is too busy doing yoga at the wineries.
But all that’s ok. We’ll still line up 100 deep outside his establishment to buy his beer. I’ll see you there this weekend.

To be fair, the only guidelines they are required to follow are posting the alcohol content. They can call it a quad IPA if they wanted, and as long as it says 9%, it wouldn't matter. Hell, they can call Attacus a Session pale ale if they wanted too. They are under no legal obligation to post accuracy of style.

I’m aware. I’m just helping the Parish thread along. Egging on the Parish Knights helps pass the workday.
