Got me thinking that if South Africa is heading the way of Zimbabwe, is it possible to short the Rand (South Africa currency). For the past 5 years, it's been about 10 cents to 6 cents per Rand.

What say the gurus of the MT?

I say playing foreign exchange markets is a good way to lose money. You haven't discovered anything here Goldman Sachs and Citigroup haven't already.

Based on my limited experience in this type of stuff, it is better to play slots in vegas instead. At least you can convert your player points to free drinks, food and hotel rooms after you loose thousands of dollars.

The best way to get to a million dollars by playing the currency markets is to start with two million dollars....

FX derivatives are a great way to lose tons of money.

Think about it. Hedge Funds do this for a living and struggle to make consistent returns.

The day I truly understood and internalized that fact was the day my portfolio started trending up.

Shorting means there's no limit to how much you can lose.

When you are long, you can't lose more than what you originally invested.
