Vegas Flight Recommendation

I am headed to Vegas March 22-25 and still have not purchased a ticket. I can either fly out of BTR or MSY but want to avoid Spirit. Currently Southwest gets me there and back for $322 but with awful hours, everything else is $400-$600. Should I book Southwest now or continue to wait?

Ugh you just missed the cheap flights to vegas, was only $116 roudntrip from MSY for March, April, May... I just looked at the flight times for your dates and you're right, those flight times on southwest are horrible.
Which one bothers you more: the 5am there or the 8:45pm arriving MSY at 1:45am? On the way there you can book spirit one-way for $159/piece so at least its a decent hour (12:30pm), on the way back it looks like spirit at 6:25am arriving MSY 11:45am or that 8:30pm on southwest. Both are the same price so unless you wanna shell out an extra $100 for the 8am nonstop back on southwest you're going to be stuck with these timings. We're within the range that we may see another sale next week, but generally fridays and saturdays are not good times to book (very expensive)

When you posted that a week or two I looked at the dates and did not fit my travel plans, bachelor party

I think Im going to hold out until Wed/Thurs of next week, I would much rather leave NOLA and Vegas late knowing Sunday morning could be a struggle

Yeah hold off til then but keep checking daily and you may at least find at least one flight pricing that gets better. Look for one-ways as well

Damn, even during March Madness I've gotten flights cheaper than that on SW. I wish I had seen the Vegas thread. I booked for 285 in a few weeks. I usually follow this board specifically for those threads, too. But I'm in the same boat as the other guy, I refuse to fly Spirit.
ETA: NVM, I see it was starting in March. I feel a little better about my purchase now

Why avoid Spirit? I know they aren't the best, but for >$200 for a 2 hour direct flight, you can't beat it.
Save the extra money for the craps table.

I flew round trip from Vegas to NOLA on spirit and it was just fine

I did Spirit round trip non-stop flights last year and it worked just fine.
It sure as shite wasn't luxurious, but we weren't in the air long enough for it to really matter.

I'd go ahead and book your flight on Southwest and then if the price goes down your can rebook and get a credit back. Thats assuming you'll fly southwest again in the next year.
This thread made me check my flights and I just got almost 3000 points back.

From reading on here I figured all the upgrades, fees, and baggage I would be even with SW if not more expensive.
