Interesting poll results regarding American optimism for next 3 years: trump related

Trump is an a-hole on the personal level. That is not a controversial point to make and should be obvious to anyone. The thing is, sometimes assholes get support because they are bring good results as bosses and leaders. Some of the best coaches, CEOs, and entrepreneurs in history were and are notorious assholes.
We won't know if it is true or not until the actual next election happens, but there exists a possibility that because DJT is so much more of an a-hole than any prez in modern history (except maybe nixon), traditional favorable/unfavorable polls may not be adequate.
Nate Cohn, election guru over at NYT, noticed an interesting result from a recent national poll.
Here is Nate's quick thought:
We have zero clue what will happen in three years, but IF (big if) the economy continues to be pretty robust and economic optimism remains at 20 year highs, if we are not involved in any unpopular wars, if somehow infrastructure gets revamped...... I think people could be surprised at how much higher of a % donald trump gets in 2020 than what the % of people are that approve of him.

Are you generally optimistic or pessimistic about the next three years with Donald Trump as president?
Optimistic 50%
Pessimistic 46%
(CBS News Poll, 1/13-16/18)

If I was asked to argue that Trump is much stronger than his ratings make him seem, I think this would be one of the more interesting poll questions could muster for my case.
I don't know enough about the question to say whether it's always biased towards optimism about the future. Maybe it is. But Quinnipiac asked a question like this before his inauguration and it was oddly good for Trump then, too

Think of it this way. Take a look at the number of “scandals” or attempted “gotcha” news stories that the MSM has attempted on Trump since 2015. They’ve all either whithered away or have been debunked. Instead of just accepting the fact that they can’t outsmart him, they continue to go head to head; and it always backfires. Because people don’t care about nice. They care about results and vote with their pocketbooks.
Obama was the opposite. He was the likeable guy who talked sports and hung out with the likes of Jay-Z and Beyoncé. The “cool” President......but that didn’t help the steel worker in Pennsylvania who was out of a job because of Obama’s globalist agenda that outsourced those jobs overseas.
As long as Trump continues to bring jobs in instead of out and allows the economy to soar, and allows this Tax Bill to help the middle class keep more income; he can be the biggest jerk on the planet. But where it matters most, the pocketbook, is what will carry his popularity and reelection.

Trump isn’t an a-hole, he just calls out beta male cucks like you so you get emotional and cry in your boyfriend’s lap. Why do you make these pathetic emotional threads every night?

NYT is not fake news for the purposes of this article, correct?

The poll itself was from CBS.

It’s sad how you fail to realize how much of a pathetic loser beta male you are by getting offended by what Trump says about your idols like John McCain and Chuck Schumer. You’re basically an SJW and you don’t even know it. Sad.

True dat
Trump is a narcissistic a-hole on a personal level
Obama was a narcissistic a-hole on a policy level.
I hate both, but I will accept Trump's policy agenda every day while he talks like he was in a locker room after a football game every day.
And Obama can kiss my arse for his attempt to destroy the country I love.

I have bee praying for years to get a GOP POTUS who would spit in the eye of this PC bullshite and push back against the MSM propaganda. I got Trump as an answer to those prayers and I am thankful, (but I wish I had put some personality specifications on my prayer)
I have changed my opinion of Trump since the primary - I now think that he is really serious about his agenda.
I still deeply dislike his narcissism, but there is not a DEMOCRAT in the world that I would prefer to be POTUS instead of him. I know of no honorable DEM

Everyone who has personal experience with Trump describes him as the absolute opposite of an a-hole. He's an incredibly personable individual.

Member when everyone outside the state of Alabama hated Nick Saban because he was an a-hole. Of course you can because it’s now.
