I have had an echo since the release of the very first one.................

I just got a Home and im selling all of my echos now. I dont have to repeat myself with the Home like i do with the echos.

Well, I guess the Echo name is well earned.

amazon's intercom is a better product at the moment.

you say 'drop in on henry's dot' and the dot turns GREEN and opens a live connection so you and the person with the dot at the other end can just talk to each other; not to all dots. when you're done, just say 'alexa cancel' and if the dot is within sight, you can tell the connection is closed because its no longer pulsing green.

that is live??! Im suprised the Home dosnt have a true intercom yet.

Checked and it was, so I decided to go ahead and start integrating my home for this technology. Ordered 2 of the lower-priced Nests since most of the reviews said it had pretty much the same features. That'll give me 3 Home Minis - one for each floor. Along with 2 new Chromecasts for the 2 TVs without one already. Guess I'll order one of those Hue starter packs today. Not sure what to do with the Apple Tv I have since it looks like it can't be integrated with the Homes.

I want to do this but my den and kitchen area are all recessed cans and would probably require the Hue floodlights. Those things are $50 each

Good point. Most of my lights are recessed cans as well. I'm not paying $50 a bulb, especially when there are 10 of them just in my living room and foyer area.

A lot of my outside lights are regular bulbs though, so may get them just for those.

you definitely have to plan ahead of time for hue. IMO the a19s work best when you have multiple lights in the same room that can take advantage of them.
