I just picked up a case of those Kent's two weeks ago. Maybe old stock, but the store had plenty of them

As much as I want to like my a5 it has been a turd so far.

Extraction issues out the box, sent to browning.

Get it back and go to kansas goose hunting and nothing but issues day after day.

Mine hasn't been great by any means

Did Benelli fix the "Benelli click" for the SBE3? I have a SBEII, and I had it click on me twice during turkey season. I love the gun and have not had any problems after I had that happen and read up about it. I feel like I read on this board that Benelli took care of that with the SBE3

All you have to do is make sure that the bolt is completely forward.

Sit down, check bolt. I had it happen to me once while duck hunting.

I've read in reviews that they have fixed it yes, but I dont have any first hand experience with it.

Oh I got that figured out. . .after it cost me 2 toms in 2 minutes. I'm constantly checking it now, but it's definitely a design flaw with that gun

If you like the A5, it may be to your advantage to look for an original Mag 12. You can find a really nice one for around $800. It will probably be still dropping birds when they come out with a SBE9!!!

Dad has the original SBE, the SBEII American Series. I have the SBEII, and the SBEIII. Never had alick of issues with either of them. I've heard a lot of people saying they shoot high and to the right, but I've never experienced this with any of the guns. I shoot a kicks full choke and it seems to pattern pretty much any shell I drop in it.

Another vote for the SBE III. I’ve owned a SBE II for several seasons now and outside of having the “Benelli click” happen to me once, never had a problem with it. Even shot lighter dove loads right at the start and did have cycling issues like I’ve seen some people report.

I however do not want to spend $2 grand on a gun and start taking it apart

It's one screw? Not really "taking it apart". It's designed just for that. I have shims on my SBE2 and my S Super Vinci.

i wonder if he buys a new set of 1k dollar Irons and doesnt get them fitted for him.

SBE3 vote here. I’ve been running a 2 for 10 years now and have not had any hiccups.

-both are recoil operated - super reliable
-ergonomics are very different - shoulder them and see.
-both are durable workhorse guns and will take anything you throw at them
-the only gripe I have about my browning is the duracoat is crap. I noticed the bug spray I used on my face labor day weekend caused the duracoat on my cheek stock to degrade and bubble. I could scrap it off with my thumbnail - it was gooey. About to strip it off completely for a DIY camo paint job.

was in NYC last week and went to the Beretta flagship store on Mad Ave (subtle brag). Entire 3rd floor is the gun library - I played with everything they had - benelli, berettas, sako, tikka, etc. Shouldered the A400, SBE3, and S Vinci one after the other. The A400 felt better to me than the SBE3, and the S Vinci felt the best of the three. Marketing aint everything...

I've had it since they were introduced. My dealer was told by the distributor that I got the very 1st one in my area (Memphis).

I absolutely love it. It's ugly, I admit, but it fits me like a glove. I love how you take the thing down and remove the bolt to clean it.

It hasn't let me down once. No FTF, FTE, etc.

Mine has a 26" barrel.

I will say that it is slightly longer (action) than other semi shotguns. The recoil spring is directly behind the bolt and not in the stock.

Benelli makes the best semi automatic shotgun imo. They never fail, are light and easy to break down. They cost a lot but are worth the money- buy once, cry once

I would go with a Beretta.

Why?
Because they make better shotguns than both Browning and Benelli

I am going back and forth on both of these guns. Lots of good input from everyone. It sounds like neither gun is perfect but both can get the job done. I grew up shooting Auto 5's and am now retired and starting to hunt again with rotten steel shot so I need a modern shotgun. I'm leaning towards the A5 because I love the old Browning hump back for ease of sighting.....
