Wish we could just buy the guy out, but we don't have the cap space. Guess we better hope Asik keeps it going the way he is.

We are going to trade that pick now?

What does this have to do with the medical staff? They tried the less invasive option for 4-6 weeks, that didn't solve the problem so they are now choosing the more invasive procedure. This seems like pretty standard escalation.

No, but that was the price of dumping QPon in the offseason to clear cap space. They probably still try and do a 2 for 1 and dump Asik/Ajinca with our 1st. It's the least destructive way to avoid the tax. Dumping Ajinca alone isn't enough.

If we get this asik, as large of an albatross his contract is, I rather keep him than add a pick to dump him.

The concern was we'd get a useless center, asik in this 10-15min role helps a lot. Allows cousins to cool down and rest, allows the offense to go through the guards as well. It's a small sample size, but I rather ride the wave than to just jump ship and lose yet another pick.

Benson ain't paying taxes to keep Omer Asik on the roster. With Cousins' raise the Pelicans are basically in the same tight position next offseason as they were this offseason. Just

AD
Cousins
Jrue
Hill
Asik
Moore
Ajinca
Miller
Diallo
Jackson

puts you $125 million which would be about $2 million over the tax line. You haven't brought Rondo back or replaced Nelson/Allen/Clark/Cunningham. Dumping Ajinca won't get it done. Rondo will cost at least $4 and lets assume you can replace the other 4 guys with 3 minimum contracts. You'd still need to dump at least $8-9 million to get it done and Ajinca makes $5.

The only hope is that the playoffs have a lot of games this year which would jack up the cap and tax lines. An extra few million might let you get away with only dumping Ajinca. Hope for lots of 6 and 7 game series.

Guaranteed contracts are a joke. That's the worst thing about the NBA. Other than the bitch arse super friends trend.

Agreed, but I was referring to this year we wouldn't be over the tax yet right?

Yeah, you can keep him around this year without any trouble.
