Just bought a fairly new truck, but was slipped an extended warranty in during paperwork. Didn't catch it at first, should I cancel it??

Depends on what it costs and the coverage. I paid $1200 to extend a $43,000 vehicle to 5 years or 100,000 miles which I felt was a good deal.Either way you can make them take it out no matter what you signed for a short period of time afterwards

Unless your truck is made by Volkswagen, you probably don't need a warranty.

Thanks, mine was about $1800 for a vehicle about half that value..

Is it the manufacturer warranty?
Most after-market warranties are crap and will nickel and dime you to death. If it is one of them type warranties, yes.
Also, it is a 'bumper to bumper' type, or does it just cover the power train?

Now that cars are rolling home theaters with heated power seats, cameras, vehicle sensors, etc. the old philosophy of never buy the extended warranty needs to be re-evaluated. I just replaced a NAV/stereo unit under a extended warranty, would have been $3,600 from the dealer with labor without the warranty, would have probably gone aftermarket, and done it myself without the warranty. Also replaced the rear camera under warranty about a year ago.

I bought a slightly used 2014 Chevy Silverado Quad Cab from my Father in Sept. I asked him to purchase the extended warranty just as the window was closing (he was coming up on 36K Miles). For $1,500 I had a radiator leak that was totally covered. I received a rental (2017 Silverado LT Loaded out) for 3 day’s at my warranty company’s expense and the dealership provided me chauffeur service to and from.
All at zero cost to me. Based on typical costs that amounted to half of the cost of the warranty when labor is factored in. Well worth it IMO considering I’m covered until almost 80,000 Miles. It will easily pay for itself.

Extended warranties are hit and miss . Read the fine print .
Remember though , the finance manager selling you the extended warranty is making a commission off of the "extras" he gets to sell you .
You can always decline the extended warranty at the dealership , and shop for your own after .
Just read the fine print .. and its always ok to just say no regardless of how guilty they try to make you feel.

When they start the warranty sales pitch with "if this or that fails it could cost x dollars to repair", come back with "if this vehicle is so prone to failures why should I even buy it?"

You can usually buy the same manufacturer warranty online without finance mgrs markup. And have it start when you buy it before 36k
