Campbell
I think whats He’s done at Iowa State has been incredibly impressive.
SEC needs to get back to stealing the best and brightest from other P5 schools.
The fact that he was an idiot and represented himself when signing on at Iowa State and not having an agent is his downfall this year. The resulting $9 million buyout he agreed to will cost him the shot at our job(and others I'm sure). Currie has said he'll pay big bucks to a coach, but I seriously doubt he's going to pay Butch's buyout, Campbell's buyout, Campbell's salary, and Campbell's staff's salary.

Sorry for the double post...
Only way I and many other Vol fans will accept Norvell is if Currie makes a hard run and offers at the likes of Gruden, Patterson, Mullen. If he comes out and says they offered those types of coaches the type of money that would be raises at their current place and they said no, then I'll accept Norvell. Until then, he needs to go after the bigger fish; and wait on bringing up one of the smaller school guys.
His name is starting to get more mention on the various UT boards.

Campbell’s contract with ISU may cost him a better job for a few years . He may pay some of his buyout for the right job . I think Mac paided some of the buyout from CSU .

Gruden would be a disaster. Tressel is very interesting, but Mullen could flourish with the Vol resources, and would be a safe hire.

The stories about Schiano being a total a-hole have to at least rival the ones about McElwain

I've been saying all along Petrino is their best bet, and it's looking more and more like that is going to be their best option.

Gruden is too much of a pussy to take the job. The guy loves his ego.
Tressel is a little too old.
Mullen most likely wouldn't be able to get the ball rolling fast enough to appease Vol nation. Plus, I don't think Tennessee could get him even if they made him a top 5 paid coach. Moreover, MSU could counter with a substantial amount and Mullen's relationship with Cohen is as good as a working relationship can get. That means more to Mullen.

Hey...I'd like for Tennessee to make a good hire.

Leach would kill in the SEC
Posted on 11/20/17 at 8:33 pm to MegaTiger3
they are going to take who they can get it is not a great job Tennessee has turned into a maryland Illinois indiana type program

They need a big-name established coach, not some young up-and-comer.
I hear this all the time, esp with the top schools. I think it wrong. most of the established guys that would move are retreads.

Exactly
Proven guys arent so ready to leave what they have built

The culture, morale, and expectations in Knoxville are in the gutter. They need a CEO type experienced at building a program more than they need the hot name. They are dangerously close to falling into irrelevancy.
Mullen is the perfect choice. He's got the experience as a head coach in the SEC. He wins consistently at a place that has never had any type of sustained success. Plus, he bounced around with Meyer as he was building programs at Ball St, Utah, and Florida.

I think they should go all in on Leach.. revive the program and bring a little culture shock into Knoxville.
Leach is a better fit at Arkansas than at UT, imo. He'd need a really good DC tho.
I think Mullen is a smart hire for UT.

He would probably be a better fit at TAM or UF but I wouldn't want to have to play him every year.
