Italian Sausage Bread recipe (with pics)

This tastes great and isn't too difficult to make - always a huge hit at parties. Never met a person who didn't love this stuff.
Ingredients:
2 lbs. Italian sausage
16 oz. Mozzarella cheese
3 eggs, beaten
2 T parsley
3 T grated Romano cheese
1 box Pillsbury Hot Roll mix
1 c hot water
2 T melted butter
1 egg
Fry off the Italian sausage (removed from casing), then drain very well (press out the grease with paper towels - you don't want it leaching into the bread as it bakes). Set it in the fridge to cool - you don't want the cheese to melt into it when you mix the ingredients together.
After it cools, mix in the cheeses, eggs, and parsley.
For the bread, follow the first few directions (#2-4 on the box) for the hot roll mix (combine mix with the enclosed yeast packet, hot water, egg, and butter). Knead the dough for 5 minutes on a floured surface, then cover with bowl to rest for 5 minutes.
Roll out dough on greased surface, sort of like a large pizza crust but a bit more rectangular - around 18"-20".
Lay out the Italian sausage mixture in layers, then roll layer over, repeat. Every couple rolls or so I fold in the edges a bit so the stuffing isn't falling out the ends.
Carefully transfer to large greased baking pan. It's easier to roll it into the pan, because it's going to fall apart if you pick it up.
Bake at 350° for approximately 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Let it cool a few minutes before slicing - if you slice it instantly the cheese will be melting out of it.
Enjoy!

Looks tasty....if you want to pretty it up, brush it with egg wash (1 egg + 1 T water, beaten together) and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Egg wash will give it a glossy shine & help the seeds to stick & give a nice golden brown color.

My wife makes sausage bread like that with regular Jimmy Dean type breakfast sausage. It's a good crowd pleaser for breakfast when you have family over during the holidays.
I like the idea of using Italian sausage. We'll have to try that.

Looks great! Might sauté some onions and peppers in the sausage.

A little marinara dipping sauce too

Looks great!
My kiddo likes a breakfast version of this. You use two cans of unperforated crescent roll dough and fill a layer of sausage, eggs and cheese. I agree with previous comment about egg white brushed on top gives it a nice sheen.

Looks awesome.
Have you served it with a marinara sauce for dipping?

Haven't tried that, but I will for lunch.

Isn't this like a Stromboli?

I thought a Stromboli needed sauce inside (to mimic an erupting volcano's lava, hence the namesake volcanic island).
