Let me begin with if we hire O, then this process was a failure and I worry about the future of our program. The level of apathy I have can only be surpassed with an O hire. I would feel most comfortable (and would be excited about LSU football again) with a Fisher hire. Yet, I also like Herman and am excited about an LSU football program with him at the helm.

With all of that said, I did find his clock management at the end of the game today a bit alarming. Seemed to be oblivious to the in game situation. I have seen other posters bring this up only to be dismissed. Seems to be a legitimate criticism. As this was my first Herman game, I wonder: Does he always run the up tempo offense regardless of situation?

Pre-occupied thinking of how to scheme with superior talent like Guice running around.

two things. First, he was down by 4 and may have been thinking 2 possessions to win. Second, they broke a big play that got them in the red zone in a hurry.

I don't think you can question his clock management at the end for those reasons.

He doesn't always run hurry-up. They were down 4 and he was trying to move the ball fast against a tired D. Also, two minutes is not an eternity. His D failed in the end.

I think it's fair critique. No coach should be immune from critique unless his last name is Saban or Meyer.

You generally trust what they're doing.

First and goal with 1:50 left and they run. That's good. But then they hurry up for second down play and only burn :21. Obviously scoring on second down was good, but they could have burned more time. But whatever. Maybe they thought they had the defense on their heels and wanted to take advantage of that.

The bigger issue was when Memphis had first down inside the 20 only needing a field goal to tie with 50 seconds left. They run on first down to milk the clock and despite having 3 timeouts left, Houston does not call timeout. Instead, they let 27 seconds run off the clock before Memphis'next play, which was the game winning td. Those two sequences reminded me so much of Miles.

That said, I prefer Herman over O, because he's a young coach who hopefully will learn and adapt. But are all of you Herman guys who have tunnel vision right now going to be patient enough through those growing pains?
